So far in pre season our midfield has dished out 7 of the 9 goals, granted you can see we need another striker but it's nice to see our midfield chipping in with some goals, Anderson seems a decent signing and if wooly can bring in some form it will be like a new signing, that's forgetting Adomah, Bolasie and pearson, We also have Elliott who can ship in with 5 goals plus so i think this season our midfield will be a lot stronger, so it begs the question should we go in for Buzsaky? Still think the answer is a big fat yes, as good as our midfield is doing our strikers seem to be struggling. we need a midfielder who can get them going, So Del, get him in now as it looks like were the only buggers interested, Also Charlton are not interested in Baldock, can see him signing within the next 2 days

    Im going for

Baldock 12-18 (if we get him)

    Pitman 8-14

    Adomah 6-12

    Thoughts?

Said it before, I'm a big Stead fan but Baldock, Pitman partnership with Stead as sub to change the pattern if needed.

Adomah, Morris / Skuse , Pearson, Anderson, leaves you with Woolford (who I hope proves all his doubters wrong) who could replace Pearson, Elliott and Bolasie also to play. Where is Buzsaky going to play?

    But scorers

    Baldock (if it happens) 14-20
Pitman 12-18 (only because he takes corners and free kicks, other wise he will be higher)
    Stead 5-9
    Anderson 5-10

I picked four as my top three incase Baldock don't come, below are some of he others I feel could do something.

Woolford 3-6 (he has said he's aiming for 10 this season)
    Pearson 5-7
    Adomah 5-10

Plus all the others who could chip in as well

Looking back at our seasons in the Championship since we were promoted we haven't exactly set the goal difference statistics on fire have we? Would I be right in saying that we have never had a positive GD since the heady days of the Wembley visit, or was there one?

Anyway, getting back to the present, it looks like we might be able to throw that unenviable record out the door and move on to a somewhat more respectable position in this division. So far I like what I see and hear on this site and perhaps the doubters of the new McInnes era will now be able to step back and say that they also have become believers. The positivity resounding from this site gives me a great sense of something good, finally, happening at Ashton Gate and I don't think that the rebuilding programme is anywhere near complete.

Derek has gone about his job with little fanfare and false promises which leads me to think that the clearout that has been needed for so long is close to fruition. Memo to all players - show the boss that you are on board with his footballing credo and you have a chance of sticking around and goof off at your own peril. The days of apathy at BS3 are at an end and if you don't agree then find another home.

    Bring it on!!!!

Think Woolford could get a few, Skuse can chip in, Pearson will score too.

Skuse and Pearson offered a good balance yesterday and I hope those two will start in cm next season.

We don't NEED buz, but would be good to have because his set pieces are top class and he's a good creative player.

Surely it would be Stead and Baldock (rather than Pitman) as starting pair
And no we don't need him, b ut if wages permit would be quality signing

    Reference comment #5 from Redordead.
Why does a natural golascorer like Pittman have to take all corners and free kicks?
Yes I know Thierry Henry used to for Arsenal but how many less goals would Big John Atyeo have scored for City if the managers at the time had been stupid enough to make him take corners and free kicks?
I personally do not think that Pittman is such a good striker of a dead ball but am i the only one?
And it does not say too much about the quality of our wingers and midfielders if a main striker gets all free and corner kicks!

And I may be incorrect Invermere Mike but I think we have not had a positive goal difference in any of the five seasons since our return to the Championship.

I cant understand why everyone is bringing down John Stead.
He is easily our best forward, and the best signing the club has made in 5 years (not including Adomah of course).

I sincerely hope he stays with us and has a rip roaring season, which he is quite capable of doing

Don't think anybody is bringing down John Stead, I started my thread of saying I'm a big fan.

Just don't feel that he is a big scorer compared to Pitman. Which past history has proved but I would love to be proved wrong as I think all players should play with his commitment <ok>

Im not a big fan of stead as i like a striker who can score goals and get in defenders faces.
Stead annoys me that he spends too much time out the box usually the one putting the crosses so his size is wasted so the odd few times hes in the box he does get goals.

Pre season has shown that yes he hasnt scored really any but he has assisted most of the goals.

Pitman has talent but isnt consistant and cant get 90 mins out of him. Out of contract end of season so if we can sell and reinvest then go for it

If it wasn't for Jon Stead we would have been relegated last season without a shade of doubt. I can't recall the number of times I said 'if only we had 11 Jon Steads we would be challenging at the right end of the table'. There was even one game, at home, can't remember who against and Stead did everything and I ended up saying to my mate 'Stead is our best attacker, midfielder and defender tonight!' He even blocked one on the line to which I added 'He's our best bloody keeper too!'

i'm a 100% stead fan, agree Matt if Stead was missing those last two months we would be down, one of the major players to keep us up,Carey was another.

Without those two we would be looking at league 1 this coming season.

Soley going on who is at the club now

    Pitman 12-15 Goals
    Stead 8 - 10 Goals
Albert, Taylor & Pearson, all with between 5 - 8 goals

Not hard to see why a striker is high on Del's list. We need that and a centre half to have any chance of being competitive this season, beating the Gas won't paper over the cracks of a defence that was very poor for most of the season, and only improved with loan players no longer with us.
