I read today that Roman has not given up on recruiting Guardiola in the close season, and is inviting him to name his own terms! I know it was made clear to Robbie that his role was purely a holding one, but I think there's more than a few people that will be sad about this! The article still thinks that Guardiola will turn the offer down--and if he does Robbie will go into a pool of 6 candidates, that will include Rafa Benitez, for selection! Just think--a choice between Robbie and Rafa???

There is no way Pep or Jose will be coming, at least not this season. No one else is worth giving it to over RDM in my opinion.

I tell you what... if Capello gets it I'll be switching my allegiance to Blackpool! (I'm only 5 mins walk from Bloomfield Road) He's still being linked to the job :emoticon-0114-dull:

For all the years I've followed the Blues I just couldnt switch allegiances, because of a managertial decision! I've lived through the appoinments of Geoff Hurst and Danny Blanchflower and still came out the other side! Its really that I want someone who has a passion for the club, not someone who's here for the big bucks!

Di Matteo won't get it, in my opinion, and neither will Capello. I think if Abramovic can't tempt Guardiola, he may go for Benitez purely for his Champions League record.

Capello would be a very good appointment. We'd be impossible to beat, especially at home with him. No complaints. However, if Di Matteo doesn't get the job (which looks very unlikely that he will), the only man I would want is Jürgen Klopp. In my opinion Guardiola is Barcelona through and through. Can't be Mourinho and be successful at different clubs imo.

If you look at our record with Managers, it is pretty clear that only Mouhrino has been really successful. All the others have played, and are still playing, the core of Joses' team. Grant had Steve Clark and a great team to manage, The Brazillian was a disaster and has been at his subsequent Clubs, Ancellotti was perhaps the next best, but only knew one way to play, and never actually understood the English psyche, which Jose did. AVB will become great and come back to haunt us.
In my humble opinion, RDM is the 1st in a long time to have tactics, man management skills, intelligent selections AND produce results by uniting our players as a TEAM. None of this will matter to a meglomaniac who craves glory by association, and unless RDM is here next season, we will be back to a shambles by Christmas no matter who RA buys.

RDM is my first choice, along with Eddie.

A lot of us on here and BBC always dreamt of an old boy management team...I only want this as my ideal outcome.

Capello...last resort, would he deliver the football roman wants, and would he do it better than Robbie? No.

Guardiola...Barca get beat over two legs, they concede the league, he collapses and needs a year off...****.

I always thought he would be mustard, but you wouldn't see Fergie, Mourhino or Wenger taking a year off because they didn't win for once...

    One Di Matteo.

Let's not forget that Avram didn't run the team, Stevie Clark did<ok>

Terribly sorry to upset you BM2. Try a skin full of Bordeaux or a good Valpolicella , it works for me !!!!
Not really expecting a season of doom, but, Guardiola excepted, all those being mentioned are no better than any of those gone before, if as good. Common denominator is they have won the CL, but failed miserably in the PL or in case of Capello, English football in general.
Had RA not been such a dope, Jose would have given him 3 CLs' with Chelsea, because he does understand the English "attitude ", as he often calls it.
RA has learned bugger all in the last 6 years.
Pass me a glass of that Medoc.

He's definitely done things that dont make sense! Perhaps he enjoys cracking the whip and not a people person! Anyway--talking about sleep inducing medication--I got through a whole bottle of Chateau du Gazin last night ...and I'm still trying to come round! <doh>
