Normally at this time of the week we are debating the best line up and formations and predictions on a really really positive match thread. With no match this weekend I would like to know a line up of a different kind. If you could have a meal and spend the evening with current or past people connected to Southampton football club who would you choose. There are 5 invites to your evening bash, pick the following; 3 people past or present connected to Southampton, players/manager or board 1 other sports personality 1 other well known person/celebrity It would be good to hear your reason for your line up (glamour, you have a particular question, humour, would have interesting stories etc) Have we got similar tastes for good company?
Ron (to constantly apologise for doubting him, and thanks for signing Charlie ), Nigel Adkins (I'd bet he'd be a good laugh when he's drunk ), MLT ( he was my childhood hero). As for the other two: Piers Morgan so I could play the entire 90 minutes of Saints 4-0 Arsenal right in his face and Lionel Messi because he's Lionel Messi.
Lamby I have been to a hospitality game at st Mary's and I was actually sat next to Jimmy Case for a meal.......he was quite funny.
Rupert Lowe, Katharina Liebherr, Nicola Cortese, Les Reed and Ronald Koeman. I'd want a few questions answered.
MLT, Rickie, and Laurie Mac from the Saints side. MLT - absolute hero, Rickie because he almost took MLT's crown and Laurie Mac as he is simply a Saints Legend. Mohamed Ali - a true legend. Kylie - ...Just because
Lawrie, Mick Channon,Rickie Lambert ( was going to shorten it, but there is another RL) D. Roeser ( B.O.C) Senna.
Lawrie Mac Micky Channon MLT Brian Clough - to discuss current clubs and England set up Stephen Fry - funny, so intelligent, has stories and likes football.
Invitations go out to Alan Ball, Lawrie Mac, Katharina Liebherr, Colin Jackson and Ben Elton. Ben Elton who is more than just a comedian. Really enjoyed his stand-up comedy years ago. Alan Ball, my favourite footballer of all time, Lawrie because he has a good sense of humour, likewise Colin Jackson. And perhaps I could get some good business tips from Katharina.
There is no way she will be on my list. If there was the tiniest sniff of a chance if Kylie being at the same dinner table as me, there ain't no way I'm inviting 4 other people!!!
Marcus Liebherr (to thank him for making the last 6 years of my life mean something every week end of the season, except international breaks "yawn") Mick Channon (Because his Mick Channon) Steve Moran ( to shake his hand for making my 18th Birthday so special) Nick Faldo ( to explain why I shank the ball when I am 2 over par going into the 18th) Jimmy Page (to show me how to play the riffs in A Stairway to Heaven)
Ronald Tiss Franny Benali (to get the curries in - then I can relax rather than cook!) Mika Hakkinen - so I can confuse Ronald by having someone there that looks like him (plus I loved Mika when he was driving). Bowie. Because Bowie.
Saints 3: Steve Williams - my hero Le Tiss - my hero Lawrie Mac - my hero Other Sporting celeb: Daley Thompson - my hero. talented, single minded and a winner Non-sporting Celeb: Paul Young - one of my first records; met him at a motorway services 25 years ago, seemed a nice chap. A customer of mine knows him and drinks with him and speaks highly of him as a person. I'd like to find out. *If it was a football evening, then Jeff Stelling needs to be on that list. His enthusiasm and passion for the game is infectious. I still love that fact that he used to go to fleet services on the M3 to do his research away from the house, before he became very well known). Those that have gone: Saints 3: Alan Ball - what a player, lovely man. Peter Osgood - he owes me Bobby Stokes - I just want him to tell me again and again about that shot Other Sporting Celeb: James Hunt - legend Non-sporting celeb: Harold Lloyd - I'd love to know what he sounded like. I'd like my best mate to be there and most of all bring my mum back for either of these groups (problem is she'd probably want me to invite Cliff Richard and I don't think I could do that)
Saints 3: MLT (Legend), Gordon Strachan, Ali Dia (Just to hear what was going through his mind when he got the nod) Sporting Celeb: Muhammad Ali Non sporting celeb: Benji Webbe
