Jay Tabb - born 21st Feb 1984, solid midfielder

Darren Ambrose - Born 29th Feb 1984, more creativity, Local Lad who knows the club.

    or even both?

Personally if it was a choice, i would go for Ambrose everytime because i think we need a player like him.

Ambrose by a country mile,Tabb is one of those nothing players who runs around a lot impressing a manager like MM but really isn't what we need to progress.

One of the most ridiculous questions of what would you rather have I can ever recall!

It'd be like asking me would I prefer to be rich or be bankrupt - Darren Ambrose any day of the week.

He signed my programme at Crystal Palace once, nice guy!

Interestingly enough Ambrose is STILL ONLY 30 ( as is Tabby ) - I think he's got a season or two left in him. He's not all about pace either, so that wouldn't be an issue.

Warky - surely you would rather Darren Ambrose than Jay Tabb...........?!

    MEH Westy!

The truth is neither of them are any good... No tell a lie... They were both once pretty good and now they are both pretty cack!

I hope this answers the question!

I think your being a tad harsh warky, I think ambrose could do a good job for the squad, most definately more use than Tabb. it would bring a better balance to the whole squad if that makes sense.

Ambrose definitely is not the answer!

I dont see the fascination with ex players and people wanting them to come back! Its gone, finished, lets stop being emotional about it and find someone better!

of course there is better options, I don't think anybody would say there isn't. I just thought that as he was without club and tabby is a splitter amongst fans it would be an interesting question.

with Spanish on this, out of the two Ambrose every time and thats for the reason I think hes a better player and not just because he came through our youth team. There are other players around which could do a better job but are any available on a free?

Ambrose in his last actual season before being completely and utterly messed around at Brum = 10 goals, and I dread to think how many assists at Palace.

6 goals in 11 for a player who has NEVER played in the Greek division ( top flight too ) in a side going down is a superb return I'd say also.

Ambrose is a very very good player, and aged only 30 whoever he joins next will have an asset. Give me him over Owen Garvan ( different player granted ) any day of the week!

" There are other players around which could do a better job but are any available on a free? "

Exactly. Alright Warky, seeing as Ambrose is a no from you please give us 2 or 3 players that would be a yes. Bearing in mind all our transfers are going to be freebies....

Fair play at least you have come up with alternatives instead of shooting down others and not having any ideas of your own!

Pretty sure Gera has already signed for someone but he is player I have always liked. Don't know too much about Mellis tbh and Koren is definitely a decent player.
Nice to have good ideas put forward though. Keeps the open debate going

The problem with these guys would be weekly wage.!

Fraiser Campbell looks a snip at around £800,000 but his weekly wage is probably well north of £35,000, although names mentioned here would not be close to that I am pretty sure Koren & Gera would be out of our pay structure. <ok>

Going slightly off topic - but i would serioulsy plough our dough into the posh lad up front - Assambalongho (or however the feck you spell it)

As for the original question - never been a fan of Tabbs, and have always liked Ambrose, but, his best days are well gone, and there are probably better players out there for free (but to answer, Ambrose for me)

Haven't Peterborough already turned down a £5 mill bid for this lad!? Not going to happen!

Gera and Koren wouldn't work in a Mick McCarthy 4-4-2 whereas out wide Ambrose perhaps would more so.
