Rooney got himself suspended for 3 key games. LVG will have to weigh his options. I see these players as possibilities. Assuming he keeps his diamond formation with Di Maria on the L point, Valencia on the R and Blind on the third Back point. 1 Mata 2. Januzaj 3. Fellaini I can see the potential in all of these but I personally would prefer Mata. It seems that LVG may have reservations about Mata for slowing the play down but he can find the killer pass and he seems to be able to score. Januzaj will be an exciting prospect. Fellaini may at last get onto some good crosses by ADM. Valencia that f**er needs to up his game.
Mata although it's a slow front three. Valencia and Di Maria will need to provide the pace. Any centre halves fit for the weekend?
Mata, no other option for me in the position. Fellaini might actually have to cover Herrerra for a few weeks.
A block of Lurpak? TBF, I think Mata is obvious. You'll play Mata in his position, he'll excel, and then he'll lose the position once Captain Roo is available again! Like when Gerrard's out for us, you'll probably find you'll play better as a team without him.
LVg may think that Mata is slow and his defensive abilities are not as good as Roo's. So may feel that playing J too may pose a risk and that Valencia with his better defensive abilities may compensate when Mata is playing. .. Falcao - RVP ... Mata Di Maria -.. - Januzaj .. Blind This looks very tasty and if it does come off some f**ers will get a real good spanking one day..
Saw Valencia name and thought god help us. The single worst player still at the club. By an absolute mile. I would play mata and januzaj
There seems to be a strange compulsion amongst you lot to play as many attacking players as possible with only one bona fide cm, and even he is a utility player, in front of a defence with only one available first team centre half. Completely baffling. Not sure on the fitness of Carrick or Fellaini so perhaps Fletcher should help shore up midfield with Blind. Januzaj instead of Herrerra? Seriously?
Shame about Valencia, he was a class act until that horrendous injury. Clear as a bell he's never recovered his confidence, so it's time to move him on. Best not playing him, let Januzaj develop. even if he does make a few errors
I'd drop a striker and play 4-2-3-1. Blind and Fletcher in front of the back 4, Di Maria, Mata, Januzaj with RVP up front. I just think with Rafael and Shaw on the overlap we don't need the extra striker. But at least we have cover in midfield from Blind and Fletcher. Also, if the game needs it, you have the option to bring on Falcao and switch formation. Job's a goodun
Oh...and fck off Valencia! He'll do fck all against Baines. It'll probably end up him being pushed back anyway.
It's Rooney and Herrerra who are missing though. Valencia is irrelevant really. I agree with Treble, although I would play Falcao instead of RVP right now. If, as I suspect, LVG wants to play both then Mata plays behind them with Di Maria behind him in front of Blind and Fletcher. On the face of it though, a bit narrow so we'd be relying on Shaw and Rafael to get down the flanks.
I think carrick is back so i would go with a back 4 of whatever we can muster up and then, ------Carrick -- Blind Januzaj -mata di maria -------------Falcao
Rooney shouldn't even be playing even when he's not suspended. This is Mata's chance to prove he's the better player
