    I never would have believed this but apparently it is true:

    In April 1931 Pompey and Saints were brought together by the sudden death of player Bobby Kearney. They played as ‘Portshampton’ against a select side from London teams to raise money for his family.

    Godders in addition to that a team of ex Saints and Pompey played a match for the soldiers and Sailors association I think it was in 1947. I am not sure though that it was an official charity event because it was played on two or three grounds. One of them being the combined services ground in Portsmouth. I cannot remember more details I'm afraid only that I was there for two of the games.
