I somehow ended up on the Liverpool board last night and came across an interesting thread regarding tonight's CL final, asking who people wanted to win. Obviously, being liverpool fans it was biased and 99% were behind Barca. Bu that got me thinking, in general, I wonder how English neutral's view tonight's game. Interestingly, some statd in the Lpool thread that English people should all be behind Barca, since man utd are opponents in the league so we should want them to fail, whereas barca are simply neutral. Personally, the patriot in me wants Utd to win, especially since the chances of the national team winning anything anytime soon are next to zero. Having said that, I know several of my mates are rooting for barca. So what are your opinions? Reasons would be nice too.. Do you want utd to lose out of jealousy of their success? The arrogance of their fans? The gloryhunters? Maybe you just have a mate who supports them and you want to rub it in his face? Whatever it is, I'm interested to see how this poll goes. I would post it globally but it would get skewed by non-neutral fans (utd, lpool, city, etc)..
100% Man Utd mate. If any English team were playing (other than the scum and that's not likely to happen until time travel is invented) I'd be behind them. SAF may get up the noses of many but for me I have nothing but huge admiration for him and what he has achieved in the last 25 years at Man Utd. He is the best ever manager in the British Isles for building 4 or 5 teams and filling a trophy room as big as Ryan Giggs libido. If he wins the European cup for the 3rd time, after securing the 19th record title in the same season he would sit at the top of the world of football in my eyes. Besides which, it's nice to be able to shout "come on you reds" and wonder what it would be really like?
Barcelona are a quality side but I absolutely hate the play-acting and diving embarrassments. I hope Man Utd go out there and get well stuck in. Hard but fair. I reckon if Man Utd are going to win then they'll have to be physical. I reckon 2-1 Hernandez, Nani and Messi with the goals. Hopefully a cracker!
I want Man U to win, and i dont think Messi will score, he has never scored on English soil, and only scored 1 goal against an English Club and that was Arsenal in Barca this season (he will get a bloody hat trick now i said that lol)
I'll be supporting Man Utd. I'm not patriotic at all, in fact I hate little Englanderism and have lived out of the country for the last 22 years. I simply like how Man Utd play football, admire everything SAF has achieved (as Cest says), and it's also good to see Man Utd bringing young players through as opposed to the Man City/Chelski method of simply buying success.
I've always supported British teams in Europe, and not just the big English ones. From first (Hibernian, who went to the semis in the first European Cup) to last, the only ever exception was Don Revie's Leeds who I thought were too filthy for words. And yes, I did support the Mags in their Uefa games. This time ... er ... Man. U. I think. But if Barca win with the kind of performance we all know they're capable of then I won't begrudge it. When working properly, they really are a class act.
Man Utd are probably my second tean as they are my faves out of the SKY4. Hate the scouses (calm down - calm down), Hate Arsenal coz of the blind & bias Mr Wenger, Hate Chelski coz o the 85 Milk Cup semi final at Stamford Bridge (totally disgusting and ignorant fans). The only 2 english clubs I would want to see lose are the CRAAS and the SCOUSERS. Come on Man U - I've got £50 on them. Lol Bart
