It looks like Paul Pogba will sign a contract with us, which is great news in my opinion. I believe he has huge amounts of talent and clearly Ferguson does too with his comments. Also with us having Cleverley in the frame and Anderson to and possibly young Petrucci and Carrick and Fletcher, will we really sign anyone in this area? I for one believe we need at least one central midfielder. However, I am not entirely sure we will get it.. Who knows, Paul Scholes may sign a 1 year extension as well.

Furthermore, it looks like we will lose Berbatov and Owen this summer! Leaving just Hernandez, Welbeck and Rooney. Hernandez has been struck by 2nd season syndrome and has a lot to improve on. Although Welbeck has a lot of potential, he just does not seem clinical enough. I think we may reinforce in this area. Would love Benzema, would be perfect for us. However, just won't happen because he is at one of the best teams in the world. Moreover, if we were to sign a striker, it would need to be someone clinical who can also get involved in the build play. This is a major area lacking in Hernandez's game and Welbeck strength is his ability to be involved in our attacks.

I have a feeling we may sign a winger and a attacker and give the younger midfielders a chance. Clearly Ferguson rates the likes of Cleverley, Pogba and Anderson. Furthermore, Carrick is having a great season and there is Fletcher to return.

    What are your thoughts?

    My thoughts

    - If we can keep Anderson fit and Fletch gets back our midfield is sorted IMO
    - Clev I am undecided about, not sure if he wont be another richardson etc
    - We need a striker above all else imo, in the mould of Benzema etc. Our strikers ares struggling to finish the chances we create.
    - Welbeck has great industry but needs to work on his finishing

We wont sign the usual suspects, we never do. who had heard of nani anderson etc
Who wanted Valencia and look what happened

That's a big if for Anderson. Given SAF's recent comments about him, I reckon Anderson is the one more likely to be made a squad player next season and end up like Richardson. Cleverley has had a bad year for injuries, but if he gets a decent pre season under his belt he'll have a good chance to start alongside Carrick or Fletcher next season.

Not sure about that - Hernandez will be better next season if he can avoid injuries, and Welbeck has come along a lot this year. We need another striker if (when) Berb leaves, but I'd prefer a more intelligent striker in the mould of Sheringham to give us another option up front. If we get a pure goalscoring striker we may have the same problems we did with Ruud - we'd have a great goalscorer but the performance of the team would suffer due to relying on him.

Maybe, but Rooney, Rio and Hargreaves were definitely players we were linked with and expected to sign so SAF does make the predictable signing when that's the right player for the team.

Personally I reckon SAF's loyalty to Fletcher will stop him signing another CM until he's given Fletch a chance to prove his fitness again. If Fletch got back to his pre-colitis 09/10 levels then our midfield problems would be sorted.

I reckon we'll end up with another full back to cover for Fabio who'll be on loan, a striker to replace Berb, and a player to replace Park who hasn't been as good this year. I reckon that may be someone well known like Hazard or Modric, who can cover the left side as well as give us another option in the centre.

We'll sign Clyne from Crystal Palace in my opinion and probably a striker.

Agree a lot with Swarbs. theFan.. yeah, SAF has talked up Nani in a central role of late. But is he really going to score that many goals?

Personally would love to see rooney up front and nani just behind him.

Not sure rooney enjoyed that position, despite the goals he got. I base this on the fact that he was moved back after such a successful season

nani went up top against bayern and played well and he seems to have a behind the front man role for the national squad

TBH Rooney plays the role for us that park and nani play for their national squad, yet capello hated rooney playing that role and was critical of him for 'dropping back' too often and felt his best play was as a frontman

Our main priority should be to sign 1 central midfielder and perhaps 1 player to cover Evra.

I agree, plus one striker with Berbatov going. We can NOT rely on Anderson, it's not even like he's good enough to be frank. Evra needs to be covered and a top drawer centre forward is certainly needed, Herdandez and Wellbeck still don't cut it in Europe.

Park may stay as a squad player, but I doubt he'll play as much, or in as many big games, as he has done in recent years. The days when he had half the Chelsea team in his pocket seem to be behind him.
