It looks like Gregg Dyke is going to ask SB's opinion on the name change as part of the process. He isn't going to go against AA so will be in favour for it. How many will vent their frustration at SB for agreeing with the name change (should it be accepted)
Considering he is trying to stay out of it, he'll probably say he isn't bothered either way which is Dyke's eyes will be a yes. He can't win no matter what he says.
SB is in a very tough position. He's currently the mediator trying to explain the chairmans comments to the fans whilst also not totally going against him. It's not the best position to be in.
Dyke is wrong to put SB in this position, he should have more sense. Really have a big question mark whether he is suitable to do this job at the FA, he seems to have rather a loose tongue.
Where's this from? Why would the FA ask for the opinion of an itinerant employee with an obvious vested interest in keeping onside with Allam, on such an important and sensitive topic, like? Careful of this sort of thing, Steve!
Regardless of what Bruce actually says... A) Name change denied, Allam will assume Bruce was against him. B) Name change accepted, fans will assume Bruce sided with Allam. Wouldn't want to be him right now.
someone said that a hundred fa members will vote on it. what sb said to non-football geezer won't matter.
Do we know if the FA has issued a statement to that effect without being asked? Do we know if it was a response to a question Gregg Dyke was asked? If so, do we know the context in which Gregg Dyke was asked the question? Was it one interview or many? It is sometimes very easy to assume one thing when you have insufficient information. No of the words I've seen are in quotation marks.
No one in their right mind should turn against Bruce. Unless he starts making mindless signings and the team suffers regular beltings, we should all stand behind the manager no matter what, since that's what he's employed for.
Only the idiots and the stupid. Steve Bruce was on talksport this morning and he said that neither he nor the players worry or even think about the name change most of the time. They have PL games to worry about. Well said Brucie.
This has nothing to do with Bruce! How many managers have we seen come and go? If a bigger club comes calling for him he'd be off! That's football. The only people who should be asked are the fans with a vote!
AA would have no qualms about sacking Bruce if it came to light that he said he didn't like the name change. It shouldn't matter what the manager thinks about a name change. Once he has moved on to a different club, what affinity will he have with us? Zero. We pay his wage, he needs to not bite the hand that directly feeds him, unfortunately.
Is there anything some of you wouldn't turn against in the blink of an eye? Obi is spot on with his "It is sometimes very easy to assume one thing when you have insufficient information.
Unlikely on point one and Steve Bruce wants to forget about it but the media wont let him / keep bringing it up.
Pardon? who is turning against Bruce. Nobody on here as far as I can see. It has been on radio news that Greg Dyke said Bruce ought to be asked. I think the majority of us think this is a stupid idea. Why put him in this position. Of course he will not want to go against Allam. If he has another view then how could he be sure that what he said would be in confidence. Like has been said a no win situation for him.
