Robbie 'this is my dream' Keane or Samuel 'how do you pronounce that' Eto'o?

I can imagine Robbie soaking up the sun in LA, just like one of those prolonged Spurs injuries, every so often popping up on Sky to remind us he's still alive, but Eto'o, I have more of a problem with. This is a guy who is 30, he's won the lot, he played for the best, but now he has decided to cash in & move to outer no-where for £17M per year, for three years.
Now, I'm not saying that Anzhi Makhachkala is a bad place, but I'm not so sure its the top of the football pinnacle.

My monies on the Robster, I reckon he'll be just fine. What say you?

The thing with Eto'o is Anzhi just isn't a very nice place to live. All of their players live in Moscow and fly there for training and matchdays as the city itself is considered too dangerous for them to live in. Plus there is the racism which is rife in Russian football, Roberto Carlos walked off the pitch playing for Anzhi last year as the fans of his own team were throwing bananas at him.

Still im sure the 350k a week may soften the blow a little

Its sad, such a talented player can be swayed but such large amounts of cash, when in his mind, I'm sure he already knows that it won't work out.

Could Eto'o have played at another top club and been succesful? IMO yes.

Would another top club have wanted to pay big wages and 20 mil plus for a 30 year old who relys heavily on pace? IMO no

The Russian league isn't of the highest standard but the top teams there are of a decent ability, usually reaching at least the first knockout stages of Europa League, sometimes Champs League. And with all this money the teams are getting invested the top teams can only get stronger.

Plus I don't really know the full story with him at Inter, was he forced out? Slipping down the pecking order? And like I highlighted above I don't think another really top team would of taken the punt on him due to the cost. So maybe he just took the best offer available to him?

Yeah Makhachkala (it's not called Anzhi) is not a nice place to live at all, it's well known as being a ****hole like Saintmagic's post described.
