...and who is likely to languish in mid-table out of these teams? United £ity Chelsea 'Pool Here is my analysis:- Most likely to "come back" strongest: £ity Reason: This has clearly been a transitiional year for the Arab giants. Pelligrini has been a dead-man walking for the past two seasons, which would explain the disinterested attitude of so many of their players. But with Pep arriving in the Summer, and with the countless £billions that Arabia City has to spend, they are clear favourites to make the strongest come-back next season. Indeed, I will go so far as to say that the Arabs will win the league next season. Most likely to fail to "come-back" next season: Chelsea Reason: Sure, they've got some Italian manager coming in, but so what? I doubt that he's going to be any better than and one of the scores of managers that Mad Dog has brought in as his underling, since he's owned the club. Chelsea's problems are there for all to see, the biggest one being the aging and disjointed squad. It needs a massive overhaul, at a time when Chelsea are not going to be playing any European football. Who wants to go to Chelsea, now? I cannot see where the players are going to come from, even if Mad Dog is prepared, once more, to open his wallet and carry the club. And all of this is assuming that the new manager is merely a hired, vaguely competent, mercenary who's in it for the short-haul to make himself an ease £10 million, before the inevitable sacking. I have previously predicted massive problems ahead for Chelsea, who may have to settle for several seasons battling it out in mid-field. Before I close, I'd just like to say a couple of words about 'Pool. I did hesitate about including 'Pool, because I think they've already settled down to around 7th or 8th in the league. I chose to include them because so many in the media believe that Klopp is the risen Shankley, returned to this Earth to lead his Mousers back to the Promised Land. What no one seems to have twigged is that Klopp is worse than LVG - and he is complete pants! Anyway, that's enough of my views. What do you lads think? And, remember, no wumming, please. I'd like to keep this thread clean.
So, that's two going with 'Pool to make the strongest "come-back" (even though they've been languishing in mid-table for about 7 seasons). What about the team that will make no come-back?
Obviously City have manager and plan in place. Chelsea could surprise a few people with Juve's medical team playing part time United will challenge if they get Jose Klopp will get chance to build his own team Spurs may prove everyone wrong and may be able to challenge on two fronts (unlike their last European mission) if they strengthen squad Can't see Leicester getting top 4 unless they massively strengthen squad Arsenal will come fourth as usual I guess
CFC, how highly do you rate Pep? Do you think he will be a huge success at City like he's been at Barca and Bayern? I must admit I have little insight into the guy given the two jobs he's had so far. I do think he's in for a shock though.
I agree. Don't get me wrong, I think he's an excellent coach and manager, but he's in for a culture shock. That, plus the City squad needs major surgery, means they won't be setting the Prem on fire next season.
Swansea ! ...Champions League footy on the cards for next season ......and then I'll wake up . Chelsea will be the team to watch next time round IMO
He'll find it tough because the new TV deal means Watford etc can all buy top players unlike the Watfords of La liga. If he had come here a few years earlier with Mancini's budget he would have smashed it... 90 points Jose style. Now he should get City into top 3 title challenge along with Jose at United and possibly Conte at Chelsea. I can't even see Jose getting 90 points even with United's budget at Chelsea
