Who without using hindsight i.e Bullard turning into just an expensive cnut and Elliott turning into a city legend, excited you most the day they signed?.Mine toss up between Whitmore and Okocha though Bullard scarely comes a close!(a future England player signing for lil old us!!).

Definitely Bullard. Without knowing the full details it seemed like an amazing signing and it was exactly the sort of player we needed at the time.

    Okocha comes close.

JJ Okocha, followed his career since he started in Bundesliga and knew he would be the best player I would see in a City shirt, this guy was as good as the likes of Gazza in his prime, shame he didnt play much and was probably past it

His obsession is getting a bit weird if I'm honest.

I'm not sure if Duffy's the fella I mean though, whoever it was we signed them the same time we signed Parkin.

id honestly say Altidore , if only because i had heard LOTS of great things about him long before he was a city target , he was getting heaps of praise from respected writers too.

The standing ovation he got before he'd even come on was mental.

    Another obvious choice is Barmby.

I'm going to say Whitmore/Goodison were the first. There we were in D3 signing players who'd played and scored in the World Cup.

And I'd say Koren the most, because of how good I knew he was, the situation we were in, and the fact there was no previous connection to help us make the signing. (ie Barmby being from Hull, Okocha being with Brown at Bolton)

Absolutely 100%. Will never forget his cameos. Cant help believing it was more than coincidence that these occured in promotion season. Though on the surface his role was little cameos, how inspirational was he to the squad?

Remember being over the moon with the Cousin signing as it was quite last minute. Jay-Jay, Bullard and Deano were all fantastic. Got quite excited when we got Ray Parlour too.

Barmby, Okocha, Deano, Geo, Bullard - To name a few. I think Bullard was the most surprising at the time, as someone else said he'd recently been in the England team (sort of) and seemed be doing well for Fulham. Although that surprise soon disappeared once everything transpired.
