Petchey was good for the club in one way only (but a significant one).

He got the Rookery, Vicarage Road and Lower Rous stands built in an affordable manner (Wealdstone FC & Bruce Dyer/Paul Furlong Memorial stands).

Then ran out of patience and funding for the club.

    Bassini was good for nothing...............

I know I am a Norwich fan, but I promise faithfully that Watford come an extremely close second, Bassini should be labelled a ***** and locked in a room full of Mothers!

Nothing good about Bassini, he was dangerous and we are so lucky to be without him!

Bassini was a Walter Mitty or a Con Man. Might find out later if he was one or the other, or maybe even both!

Is that the same Jack Petchey that has awards named after him in various schools throughout the London/Essex/Herts area?

That's the man Maestro. He wasn't quite so free with his purse strings when he was at Watford.

He seems to be in every school that I have worked in or been associated with.
Is he after a knighthood or something.
He especially appears to be more 'prominent' in struggling schools or schools that have been turned into academies.

two of my kids have Jack Petchey awards lol ...they're not worth much to the kids, they all know they only get them so that the school can get some money!

No offence H, but they really are a waste of time in my opinion. In one school I was teaching at a kid actually was given an award for managing to be 'reintegrated' on a half timetable after being excluded for throwing a chair at a teacher and carrying a knife in school. Apparently it was a one off and the teacher was 'persuaded' not to take the matter any further.

our kids get them at the synagogue sunday school...not for anything like that..usually for something like helping other kids or doing good homework...whatever it's for, the kids know they're worthless...seems a shame really.

I'd better not say anymore of my thoughts on those awards as I don't want to derail the thread <smack wrists or worse> <yikes>

I only say Laurence Bassini because I was born the year Jack Petchey sold the club, so wouldn't really know too much about him. But Bassini nearly ruined our promotion chances so he's an idiot.

You really could have added a few more candidates for this 'honour' but from what we have learned over the last few months it has got to be Baz

Cannot believe this is even a question. I disliked Petchey for how he sold the club and "stole" Elton's loan. But he did a lot of good things too. Baz was a con man from start to finish. Over to you Yorkie......

If they were backing Bassini, shouldn't the salad brothers also be an option?

No - because earlier on they did some good - whereas Baz never did

Never mind those two (Petchey wanted to make money out of us legally, Baz (apparently) by any means available... so Baz by a country mile and then some) but I'll tell you what, the neanderthal I had sat behind me at the Millwall game (and alas on London Bridge station platform before hand) for sheer bloody unpleasantness this maggot takes the biscuit! And he had his wife / girlfriend with him. Mrs H-F would have thrown him over the side.

I might not agree with some of GFZ's decisions but the day I know about or achieved more in football than him is the day I'll start shouting the vitriolic abuse I heard aimed his way on Tuesday night. That day is, at best, an unimaginally long way off for me and I would say everybody else there on Tuesday. Fortunately the vast majority of us realise it.

You aint seen nuffink yet !
I'm given to understand that the clubs current owners are so fed up with the players being on strike on the pitch for the last few weeks, they're going to withdraw their investment (£50) and put that and a bit more into a 100,000 all seater stadium in an area called Kenilworth (Bedfordshire I believe)
