It's blindingly obvious that with Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, we have unearthed a real gem. So that got me thinking, who do we drop to accomodate him (once Gerv get's back from african duty)? There are 3 candidates, not the 2 that others may think. We can drop Walcott (best option, been out of sorts), Gervinho (great pace, willing to attack defenders, but dreadful finishing), or Aaron Ramsey, and play the Ox in the middle (remember, he started out as a CAM).

Who would you drop, or would you just play Chamberlain as an impact sub?

I think competition for places is good. I don't think it will be necessary to "drop" anyone. A rotation will work and injury may make the decision anyway.

And how does dropping Ramsey help?

Ramsey needs a break. he's played nearly every game, even over the crowded xmas period.

Gervinho, Ox or Walcott can't step in for Ramsey.

Surely if Ramsey needs a break, get rosicky in their?

I reckon not drop any, Ox needs to be eased in. Not chucked in too quickly.

I think Ramsey needs a break, he's carried the midfield and put in his shift. I think he's contributed really well.
Oxo looks like a revelation, for me it's got to be Gervinho, Oxo and Walcott competing for those positions - do we really need Hazard?

Exactly. We need a CAM, in other words, Goetze. Shame lazio bought Honda, he would have been decent.

Agree <ok> I think we still need to replace Fabregas, our attacking game relies on an playmaker.

The problem is that we're linked to all the wrong players. We were linked to Podolski (not an attacking mid), Hazard (a winger), Bridge (barely a football player) etc. It's hard to inspire confidence, when the people with the money are barking up the wrong tree.

A left back would be good. I dont know if Gibbs would ever become a properly good defender.

Still an out and out winger for me.

Yeah not convinced by Gibbs at LB, he's got a great cross so probably better suited further forward. I think Santos has been a great acquisition. He's not amazing, but he's a proper workhorse and he's really effective. It's definitely a position that we need to address for the long term though. Luke Shaw from Southampton was mentioned a short while ago.

For me, the key position is a creative attacking midfielder. I think most of our forward attacking players can score, but they need the key to unlock defenses, that's where will still miss Fabregas.

What about that young barca guy, Alcantara, i believe his name is. Surely the least barca could do is loan him to us, considering how much they ripped us off over Cesc.

I wonder about a player like Gourcuff, dont know much about him but he seems to fit the bill perfectly.

He hasn't exactly set the world alight at Lyon. He seems to lack a work ethic, not the sort of player we should be looking at. We want people who work hard for the team.

The team needs a player who can create, I believe Gourcuff is that player.

So what if he has a bad attitude? RVP, Santos and Song dont exactly have the best attitudes in the world. Under the right supervision I am sure he could become great.

Actually i voted for Ramsey then realised that dropping him wouldn't make a difference, it'll have to be out of Walcott or Gervinho. The problem is with Wilshere out, Ramsey has to play. I mean who else is there? Rosicky? Benny? My preferred central midfield would be Song, Wilshere and Arteta but i suppose we can play Rosicky. He is decent and solid but doesn't offer a great deal in attack, not like he used to :(

I would have a preferred front three of Gerv, RVP and OXO. For me OXO has more better control, crossing ability, knows how to go past players and is genuinely more intelligent on the ball. Walcott is a great impact sub and i would play him in the central strikers position. If the piece does not fit, smashing it in won't help. Walcott is a striker, thinks like a striker and plays like a striker, he simply is not a winger!
