After our first defeat of the season many turned on the club stating we should have finished our business before a ball was kicked. I reasoned the it was unrealistic and that if it was that easy then every club would be finished before the first ball was kicked. I argued most would still have business to do. So what was done after the 8th August? Man City: Nicolas Otamendi, Kevin de Bruyne, 2 Crystal Palace: 0 Leicester: Gokhan Inler, Nathan Dyer 2 Swansea: Josh Vickers 1 Man Utd: Anthony Martial 1 Arsenal: 0 Liverpool: 0 West Ham: Alex Song, Victor Moses, Nikica Jelavic, Michail Antonio, 4 Everton: Mason Holgate, Leandro Rodriguez, Ramiro Funes Mori, Aaron Lennon 4 Southampton: Oriol Romeu, Virgil van Dijk 2 Bournemouth: Glenn Murray, Joe Bennett, Tomas Andrade 3 Aston Villa: Adama Traore, Matija Sarkic, Joleon Lescott, Tiago Llori 4 Chelsea: Baba Rahman, Pedro, Kenedy, Papy Djilobodji, Michael Hector, 5 Norwich: Dieumerci Mbokani, Matt Jarvis 2 West Brom: Salomon Rondon, Jonny Evans, Anders Lindegaard, 3 Tottenham: Clinton N'Jie, Son Heung-min, 2 Watford: Nathan Ake, Alessandro Diamanti, Obbi Oulare, Adlene Guedioura, Victor Ibarbo 5 Stoke: Xherdan Shaqiri 1 Newcastle: Florian Thauvin 1 Sunderland: Ola Toivonen, Fabio Borini, DeAndre Yedlin 3 Just thought I'd point out an example how unreasonable and unrealistic we've been at time this window. As we can see most teams still had plenty to do.
Right so was I unreasonable to criticise the commitment and attitude of the squad as this was my biggest gripe along with the ponderous recruitment?, I'm happier now admittedly but you can't ingore how piss poor we were until fans vented frustrations. I think if we hadn't been so poor in our first few games then the spotlight wouldn't have been turned on the recruitment, so you could say the club brought it upon themselves.
I think the fact that two of our July targets failed medicals (or whatever it was) forced lateness on us to a point. I now regret that our first four games weren't against Chelsea, Man. C., Arsenal and Man. U.
What's that got to do with the point of the thread? Nothing at all. It's about Sunderland not getting all the business done before the start of the season. Thought that was pretty clear in the op yet you've ignored it. I was hoping it would develop in a discussion about window rules as it's set up to force clubs to do business into the season and how it gives unfair advantage to selling clubs and plays right into the agents hands so they can make optimum money. It doesn't work for me. I tried to get this discussion going before but people were too livid that we hadn't finished shopping in time for Leicester. So I'm referencing back to it. What you've sternly protested about has **** all to do with this thread.
That's it fella, so much is out of our hands. Plans change and so do time scales. I wish we had those for our first 4 too
e you've aimed a swipe at those who were unhappy after Leicester, I've replied and expended on why myself and other fans were maybe not being so unreasonable due to the club's poor preparation highlighting our deficiencies and thus our slow recruitment. So un-twist your knickers kid you obviously don't like it when people don't agree with you 100% even though I have conceded that our transfer dealings did improve, me I want whats best for the club not my internet profile
No, don't generalise my sentiments and tell me what I was doing. You've got the wrong end of the stick. This thread is specific to finishing business before the season kick off. I'm telling you that's what it's abou,t I published the ****ing thread. All that other stuff you're crying on about I haven't even mentioned. Don't call me a kid and stop twisting my words you patronising ****.
its a public forum funky, you put something out there people respond. Your very good at copying and pasting stats bu as I've said you've got a problem with not being universally liked so maybe this place isn't for you and with that you go on the ignore list....kid
What's this got to do with anything. Is something wrong with you? Didn't know you were ****ing shrink. How much do I owe you.
Back to the thread.... I am actually happy with how the transfer window is at the moment, it's virtually the same for every league in Europe. I like the fact you get a few games to assess your squad and improve on it, we all thought we were fine before Leicester, I for one am now glad we had that extra time to finish off putting the team together or we could have been big time fcuked.
I think it helps the clubs with salable assets more than the buying clubs. Makes it tough for clubs like us to get out of the rut.Mind you, we've brought that on ourselves, it's kind of snowballed to the point it's made windows very difficult. I'd be happy to back to free movement thought the year.
It is good in theory, but you can just imagine the top teams challenging for honours pinching our top stars while fighting against relegation. I'm not 100% on this one mate, it's actually a great topic for debate. There's loads of pro's and con's for every date that the window could close...
How about a dark period covering the last 3 months of the season and free trade the rest of the year?
Yeah I could live with that. Would also like clubs protected for the first couple of months, especially the new promoted teams coming up so they can settle in without the top teams taking their decent players. I'd be happy with 1st October - 28th Feb?
