i would get rid of.... keepers: gough (not good enough as never gets a chance) walker (not ours, i have no confidence in him) bevan (injured and may not be back anyway due to injury) replace them with 2 keepers and use our youth keeper as a back up. defenders: virgo (not the same player we signed. i dont think he have actually recovered from last season long term injury) paterson (not the same as last season. has lost a lot of pace and he wasnt that fast last season) woodards-kenneth-parkes-l.brown is a solid back line in my opinion. be nice to get in another LB to replace l.brown or compete with l.brown as i would get rid of paterson. bolger/lockyer as cover for CB and smith cover for RB. midfielders: gill (never rated him, not sure why MM does) w. brown (i like him as thought he would set this league on fire but he just hasnt been consistant and not been good enough) lund (hes on loan anyway so he will go back but would keep him until deal expires) either goddard or clarke (neither been given a chance and cant see why need both) hunter-norburn-lund-hammer looks a good midfield but to inexperienced for me. needs someone in the middle like a stuart campbell type. whats left?? clucas/goddard/clarke who are even more inexperienced. do we need all 3 CM's as back up? if we get say 2 experienced campbell types and lund goes back to stoke then both goddard/clarke can go. hunter/hammer/santos all inexperienced. need another winger who can play both sides and mentor these 3. strikers: anyinsah (just a waste in my opinion. 1 good game out of every 10 not good enough) harrison/staley/harding to go out on loan leaves richards/clarkson/riordan/eaves/harrold. eaves will go back to bolton when loan expires but keep him until then. riordan needs to get 1 goal then i do think he will get a lot more. clarkson can play CM and richards on the wing so useful to have. harrold gives us another option where he is big. we need to have pace though. we need a pacey striker. we dont have one.
Think MM should be given till Boxing Day - if (as is possible) we are bottom of the league by then (away to Aldershot) then I think they will have no other option than to get someone else in charge! Shaun North did a good job last time when Mr Chuckle went so I would give him the reigns, with help from MS and AW! Just my thoughts, as at the moment the whole ship is sinkin and there is no one who could turn it around - it's dire!
Hi All, CJ thanks for the update admission that I cut and pasted the team and positions from the BBC website, so you will have to let them know too. I should have left the positions off of the post as MM appears to play the majority of players in a position except the one they joined us for (Clarkson Midfielder) So lets look at the suggestions then replace existing keepers with 2 keepers and use our youth keeper as a back up. Defenders replace Paterson
oops Defenders replace Paterson, Virgo and Lee Brown. We need Woodards up to speed and Bolger back quickly to support Kenneth as he is trying to hard to defend everything hence collecting cards Midfielders replace W Brown,Goddard,Clarke We do require a Campbell like player to support Norburn, Lund and Broghammer.Suggest that we need him to play in front of the defence last time we were leaking goals he sat deep and this alowwed the other players to create opportunities and link midfield to attack. Clarkson is not a midfield player struggles to tackle also short on speed to pick up loose balls in midfield (Only option at the mo due to lack of depth. strikers: anyinsah Release-blows hot and cold never played in right position.Try to farm him out to release funds or keep for the bench Rhiordan Release-different view waste of funds, heart not in it, let him go and collect money elsewhere. We cannot afford to carry this type of player. Harrold.Release let him go when contract up. Richards.Hmm difficult one keep him if inexpensive also play him in one preferred position not all over the park. Eaves is on the button shame he is a loaner.Need till season ends.Ex player Clarkson not really a midfielder play him as the link man for attack Pick up a relacement for Anyinsah agree must be seriously fast and able to get behind defences.Or buy a replacement for Harrold only better equiped to hold the ball up similar to Lambo/Walker As for the management team....On 18 January 2012, Mark McGhee was appointed manager on a two-and-a-half-year contract. Mark McGhee's first competitive match in charge was an away game at Cheltenham Town, where a 2-0 victory was secured. If you give MM a bit of breathing space and look at the last 38 matches He has Won 12 (31.5%) Drawn 12 (31.5%) Lost 14 (37%) This season all the current teams in the playoffs have won 44% of their matches losing on average 25% so whilst a tilt at the playoffs seem laughable convert a few of the draws to wins and he would have a reasonable midtable record. So on that basis allow him a chance to develop a squad we do need to finish higher than 13th this season. As for the Directors and board Chris no movement will happen with the new stadium on the horizon however suggest that we look for a chief exec who understands football and can restructure the board for the future making it less like a village club and more business orientated.A true marketing director would also assist with our profile not just using external agencies.
