http://hereisthecity.com/2012/10/23...o-should-be-southamptons-number-on/email.html Interesting article. For me I'd stick with Gazza. I just think his ball control and distribution give him the nod. What do the rest of you think?
Has to be Boruc, he looks a bit out of shape and I have reservations about his personality, but on paper he's our best keeper and he hasn't been brought in to be backup. Gazzaniga has time on his side and will only get better.
Gazza for me as well. I'm mystified if he was dropped for any reason other than an injury against West Ham. His distribution is as good as any i've seen. Calm under pressure from pass-backs. Hasn't yet let a goal in yet where he really should have stopped it. I am also fond of his cocky nature and superb time wasting skills! Boruc on the other hand is just plain fat and looked very rusty. Davis i'm sad to say has had his day, and just didn't look up to it this season.
Yep Paulo for me. Didn't think he did anything wrong to be dropped. Great reaction keeper, just what we needed in the WHU game.
Boruc was the best goalkeeper , now Gazzaniga , might as well , not like we are going to be air tight does it ?
I don't think it matters a great deal, they all have their plusses, they all have their minusses, but if the defence doesn't pull their weight it won't make any difference, for me Gazza, but I know nothing about the game, so I am told on many occasions!
Shilton ... Sorry, not an option. After that first goal against WHU I did think of nominating my 4 year old grandson. Surely has to be Boruc, assuming he was signed as being better than the other 2. Sad to lose Kelvin, and can't see why Gazza doesn't play. Yet surely if we are to trust Nigel's instincts then Boruc has to be given a run of games or given his P45
I'd go for gazza but he's a kid and i think its unfair playing him behind the 10 players in front of him so i'd go for davis as he is experienced at letting in shed loads in the premier league.
Really surprised by some of this feedback. Boruc was on the shortlist for the World XI in 2008. He's only 32 now so as a keeper should be nearing his peak (although he obviously needs to get fit again). Gazzaniga took half a season to break into a League 2 side last season. I really think Gazza has genuine potential having said that, but I expect Boruc to be in goal for us over the coming years unless his head gets turned by a bigger club. Don't judge him on the WHU game. He is an absolutely superb keeper.
Boruc has had easily the best career and is on paper easily the best keeper. He's out of shape but he's been quality until spending a few months out this off-season.
Boruc is the best keeper (and dropping him after one game would look like panic). So Boruc to get a run in goal, Kelvin on the bench, Gazza to get more experience by going on loan to a Championship or maybe even League One side.
I'd keep Gazza at Saints, he can play the cup games. Boruc should be number 1 in the PL. I wouldn't put it past him to get stupidly sent off though!
Would love too see Boruc back to his best and I suppose as an ex keep[er Nigel should know who the best choice is!
