    Simple question...

Who do you think we should have as manager next season.

Stick with Clarke and give him a chance? He is saying the right things and to me has a tactical head on him. He has a plan B, C & D etc etc. We havent had a manager like that for years. He aint affraid to change things like formations and tactics during a game and not affraid to make subs early instead of waiting until the 80th minute like Ward did if Ward made any subs that is! He seems more attack minded than we are use to which is good.

    Or

Get a new manager in the door, someone with experience who Clarke can learn from as Clarke is still pretty inexperienced.

What do you think we should do?

New manager for me someone with experience and I would keep Clarke in some other capacity we need to get out this league and I'm not sure if DC is ready for that yet I made a thread similar to this last season asking weather JW should be charge and I remember I was shot down for suggesting another manager as JW would get us promoted and how did that turn out then? :D So I say a new manager otherwise it will be just like this season fighting relegation believe me I know what I'm talking about <whistle>:D

If he keeps us up we can't just get shot of the guy.

Higgs has given him the most important role in the history of the club - to retain our league status - so if he succeeds, it would be madness to get shot of him.

And we need stability. The amount of managers we've got through over the last 6 years is ridiculous. We've tried experience with Ward and McGhee and that didn't work. We tried a 'promising' young manager from outside the club with ****le and he ended up being a ****, so we should give DC a chance. As long as we're not plumbing the depths again come this Christmas, then we should give him the whole of next season to show what he can do.

    Not sure it would.

If I were a Rovers fan <laugh> I'd hope to adopt a more ambitious approach and get Johnson.
Offer GJ a decent salary he'd get you up, absolutely no doubt.

RP - I think you need to conduct the following exercise:

1, Stand in front of mirror
2, Ask the question - 'Would Gary Johnson ever take on the role of Bristol Rovers manager?'
3, If you haven't collapsed into hysterical laughter, take yourself off to your nearest psychotherapist for immediate treatment.

Sure, Johnson is a fine manager and would definitely get us up the league(s), but do you really think he'd be interested in taking the job? I don't.

He's used to working with a supportive board and CEO - Lansdown and Fry for example. Not the bunch of shaved orang-utans in suits that run our club.

Stick with Clarke. Aside from JW he can't possibly be any worse than some of the ****s we've had over the last few years.

I think GJ could do a good job for us but it wont work. Not everyone will be happy with his appointment. Every time we lose he will get abuse from some in the crowd.

Can you imagine Holloway at City? Some will be very happy with his appointment but a lot will be cheesed off. Now imagine if he plays a player out of position or use a formation or tactic that you aint happy with and then you lose? He will get lots of abuse.

Mark Mcghee - Experienced. Started well but ended up bottom

John Ward - Experienced. Started well but ended up near the bottom.

If we get another experienced manager, will it be the same?

I think we should stick with Clarke. He is a promising young manager. As for Paul Buckle, he was unique, a one-off who we'll probably never see again.

More then anything we need players who want to play for the club and don't just walk around with chips on their shoulders thinking they're better then they actually are these sort players make hard any job hard for a manager.

Can't see Darren Clark <whistle> stepping aside just because you want more experienced manager.

    You can see it now

What ever your chairmans name is "Well done Darrell you done a great job of keeping us up, but can you step aside we have a more experienced manager to take your place"

DC says option A or Option B

"Yes of course I will, you already have JW here so one more experienced manager to learn off won't harm"

    Or

"**** off you ungrateful bastard, I'm out of here"

    I do.
He went to the Posh and Northampton, ok he didn't set the world alight, but it shows he likes a challenge.
The Rovers are a far bigger club than either of those 2.

GJ loves himself and publicity - he'd see a real opportunity to enhance his massive ego even further.
He also knows YTFC can only go one way and a job offer from Higgs would give him the excuse to leave.
A new stadium and Rovers at the wrong end of L2 as a starting point - He'd love it.

Clarke has achieved promotions, so stick with him. He needs to change one or two faces and bring in some goalscorers. But this league's been tight this year and we're not a million miles away.
