    "he is like clockwork"

Slow, predictable and only does something of note once every hour? <whistle>

Would prefer he judge him on his performance in games. The sad thing is he would be brilliant for us in certain games and if given the right amount of rest and would be great from the bench.

Johnson must be awesome in training. <ok>

Can't remember who said it but think someone said that Arsenal forwards must look awesome in training because their defence is so bad.

think it's the opposite for us. Johnson/Skrtel/Lovren must look awesome in training which is why they keep being picked, because they are marking Balotelli/Lamert/Borini <laugh>

  6. That's my theory on defending set pieces; we look great in training because is **** at delivering them nine times out of ten <laugh>

Or we never score from them in proper games because the attackers have no real competition from the **** defenders when practising in training!

The man talks so much over emotional bollocks. He referred to Lallana as a "great human being" when he signed him. Tool.

Managers won't publicly criticise their captain, nor will they drop them for underperforming. It simply doesn't happen because of the messages it sends out.

Gerrard will retain his spot as always until he is removed from captain duties and that won't happen until he retires.

  11. Wasn't Giggs captain despite not playing every week? Terry at Chelsea under AVB...? Gallas at Spurs? etc. Being captain should never give a player a guaranteed place in the team. Never!

Fair point mate <laugh> Maybe if he was a cuckoo clock it would make the price of the season ticket or match ticket worthwhile.

I seem to remember some players being refered to as "club captains", think this may be a way of getting around the team captain thing if they are not going to play much (Neville had this title too).

I don't expect the manager to criticise Stevie publicly which is fair enough.

But does p*ss me off is how Rodgers is always quick to throw the youngsters under the bus to protect others.

In addition, we all know that if Sakho or Toure made the same level of mistakes that Lovren and Skrtel have, they would be dropped straight away.

Sorry Rodgers, but you clearly are sentimental and you have your favourites.

No, him being on the pitch is a problem. We're trying so hard to try and figure out how to play him. Fact is, he's not good enough anymore in any position.

He had a good 15 min spell as AM at the end of the WBA game - but that was because WBA were losing and left more space. Then I'm sure Stevie started in the same position in the next game and was useless.

If he is to stay, then he can only be used as an impact sub. Other than that, he has no place in this team.

Kelvin Davies is Saints club captain and has been throughout our Prem return even though he has hardly played any games. You can't afford sentiment in football no matter how massive the contribution a player has made in the past. Sport is about NOW and if you look at the past rejoicing you become West Ham still warbling about 1966
