With the sixth Watford man now leaving to join Cardiff - despite a "hands off" warning from GT who now still has any liking or respect for MM ?
My first reaction is "Malky who", but I think Malky will do fine. He worked hard and was successful with us, I think given time and some "ambitious funding" he will get Cardiff into the "promised land". I'm not surprised he left us (no-one has referred to us as ambitious), I'm not surprised he has surrounded himself with people he previously appointed here, and Iain Moody is a capable administrator. As Watford FC supporters, we must look ahead and support Sean Dyche - he needs all the support he can get as it wont be an easy ride.
I am in agreement with Elixir in that all our energy must go to supporting Sean and the boys, and I think they will really need it this season! You can understand why Malky has done what he has done... moving to another country, with all this extra money, so wanting to surround himself with people he knows, who speak the same language! I guess the frustrating thing is he knows our situation but still happy to come back and take (almost) what he wants knowing he will get them, and also nip in and take players we were interested in - I am assuming it was the scouting team and Malky who identifies these players! All the good work he did at the club has now been tarnished and many fans will see him in a much worse light than someone like Rodgers! Time to move on, and move up (hopefully)
When he left I was one of those that wished him well, However I didnt expect him to rape his former club like he has ! For me he has lost 99% of the respect that I had for him! GT gave him a hands off message ,an honourable man would have stopped there! but no MM keeps shopping at WD18 stealing backroom staff and watford players and watford targets! He really should be fishing in a bigger pond than ours if he wants to get promotion! I hope he gets a rough ride when he comes back to the Vic!
I still have massive respect for him as a football manager. Like him or not, and i don't, i still rate him as a manager and i think he will get Cardiff promoted either this season or next.
Now I do not like the man but this one isn't down to him. If he keeps his hands of the players I'm ok with it now. Aidy had Burkinshaw and without has come up short, Rodgers had Lampard and proved that he (Rodgers) is actually the real deal (I don't rate Lampard and saw him as a waste of space/disruption), Malky had GT lets see how he fares on his own, I'm not holding my breath for Cardiff, Dychey has GT and its GTs Dychey barmy army we need to focus on.Can't wait for the season to start, give us two more signings and a couple of decent loans and we'll be up there, In Dychey I trust....
Don Cowie's agent could have gotten him a move to any other club if he had wanted to, and he's a good player, so I'm not angry about that. We were always outside bets to sign Andrew Taylor on our wage structure, so I'm not angry about that. It's the backroom team that has gotten my goat. If we had a new manager with no previous Watford connections, who wanted to bring a backroom new team and new approach, I wouldn't care about it. The reason I'm annoyed is that I'm sure Dyche wanted many of the same people, Collinge in particular.
Exactly NNW leaving Sean the work to do to replace staff whilst the evil one just took the easy option!
In the long term I think SD will be pleased he has lost the staff - it gives him a chance to do everything "his" way. Just makes him have to run that much faster at the start - may be no bad thing - but I wonder whether MM feels the tiniest bit guilty
My money is SD and MM are still on speaking terms, I doubt if recent events have soured their relationship. That is just my view of course!
I used to view him as a decent, respectable man and an average/good manager. I mean he did ok for Watford but considering we had the best striker in the league and probably the best young striker in the league, 14th place finish was a bit disappointing. However I simply cannot see Cardiff going up this year, mainly because there are much better teams in the division and also that the 8-9 players that he has replaced at Cardiff will take him to gel. He seems good at squad building but not sure how good he is tatically. I hope he fails at Cardiff though.
I still like him. You all seem quite suprised by something that is common place, expected even. Thats football folks just because Watford are special in our eyes doesn't make it so in anyone elses.
