Would not be surprised to see Jackson in some role. He seems well in with the regime. Maybe as assistant to some Continental I have never hear of?
At moments like this we need Reams' profound knowledge of Continental clubs and managers. Hard to see anyone from the UK applying, except those passed over for the recent vacancy at Blackpool.
I looked through the odds on SkyBet to see who was available and it made very dim reading, wouldn't really want any of the names mentioned in that list.
I'd never heard of Jose Riga before he came along, and Bob Peeters was but a faint blip on the radar, so I'm not expecting to have a clue who the next one is until weeks after he starts.
Hercule Poirot. Tbh who ever it is will get the same deal. A one year stint as a lap dog to Dr Frankenstein. Hardly the most attractive career opportunity.
Maybe RD will appoint Curbs as D o F to win the fans over. Curbs may feel strong enough at Charlton to stand up to him. He might not want a huge salary but would insist on cast-iron terms and conditions and control of budget for players and coaching staff. He must be tempted to one last hurrah. But I wonder if RD has lost interest in Charlton and just wants to minimise his losses by doing everything on the cheap. His ambitions for the club were based on the clubs agreeing sensible Fair Play ceilings. When the idiots voted like suicidal lemmings his long-term financial planning must have been f**ked. If Guy Luzon is appointed we will officially be a joke club.
He did win the Toto Cup. That would get a laugh here in the Dominican Republic, considering what "toto" is slang for. (Same in Spain, Ken Shabby?)
Forgot you live there, Eddie. Off topic but in 1998 I was on a Charlton Football course over half term at the old Crook Log and I was taught by Jason Morgan and Matt Parish. We had a World Cup 5 a side tournament at the end of the week and my team was the Dominican Republic for some reason. To this day it is the most exotic place I can imagine.
I don't live here, but I spend a lot of time here running a charity school for Haitian refugee children.
Jose Riga knows the league, is popular with the fans, and has already proved that he can do the job well. For all these reasons, he won't even be considered.
The kick-off of our under-21 match at Sparrows Lane against Millwall has oddly been brought forward by 30 minutes at very short notice. This is to free Euell quicker for the news conference announcing his appointment as Bob's replacement. RD's reasoning is that, while he is far from being the best man for the job, he sure as hell is the cheapest.
Riga Curbs Borkelmanns Luzon Euell/Matthew Wilmots Avram Grant Roland D The new man will picked from the list above in a tombola-style event to be aired live on CAFC TV.
So Ben Roberts and Damien Matthew are in charge for the Watford game while Roland looks for a Head Coach? This is a new one. Either it's a smokescreen to placate us when Luzon is appointed or we've all misjudged the situation. Curbs has expressed an interest, which amazes me, I just can't see him working under Roland's terms.
What was coming out of Belgium and Israel was that Luzon was going to be appointed. So i am very surprised and pleased that there could be a change of heart. I have no idea who it is going to be. But Mick Everitt at the Club has said that Curbs, Jorge Costa, Avram Grant and Guy Luzon are in the frame.
Curbs is the only person who might be strong enough to dictate his own terms. I don't mean remuneration, but control of signings (naturally subject to a pre-agreed budget) and relative immunity from interference. Still seems highly unlikely though. Curbs assumed, and I think we all did too, that there was already someone line up. Makes sense to make the change at the start of the transfer window, but odd to sack Bob without someone ready to come in. I can think of two scenarios to explain this; 1) There was a bust-up which meant that Bob had to leave immediately. 2) Problems have arisen with the prospective replacement. I would like to think RD is having a few sleepless nights, but I don't suppose so.
Wondering if the Jackson 'injury' was involved... it's a bit suspicious, have never heard the reason for a sub so it's likely to be crap. Jorge Costa could be fun... he does hate Millwall after all
it being curbs would make my year! i dunno where freedman has come from - he'd be hated immediately and has a shocking track record.
