A bit like a parent secretly has a favourite child, even though they love their kids all the same. That can also be translated to your football team. Whilst you love all the players everyone has their favourite, this team is exceptional and they have brought that togetherness back from 06-09 and we haven't seen a bond so strong since then! but at least this time we have the quality to go with it (not that our last promotion team didn't have quality, but they got to where they were mainly due to the never say die attitude, rather than todays crop of both that and class) So anyway, back to the thread.... Who is currently your favourite player?

Mine, I'm sure it will be a popular answer because who doesn't love the guy!, is Aden Flint. Now I can't say "compared to last season he's been like a new player" because that isn't true. This "new" Aden Flint was formed last season, just before his injury he was immense and Cotterill really turned him around compared to the guy SOD was managing, but his transformation isn't why he's my favourite. It's the guy himself... A great character, certainly the best I've seen from my city life! His interviews are great and refreshing, as is his passion on and off the pitch. He oozes everything a player should be and I for one am glad he's in our team rather than someone else's! #AdenFlintIsHavingAParty #FlintSaysNo

Flint for me. A true leader, fearless, and has come on a bundle this season. Freeman and Korey Smith are right up there too.

Love the fact thst we are seeing what a player Flint is becoming and as Shiny says his interviews are hilerious. I'm also enjoying the way we are seeing Joe Bryan coming on, and as someone said on the radio the other night his value is increasing all the time. He's rumoured to have one or two Prem teams looking at him now.

But favourite is Korey Smith, he's just so calm and takes those little sidesteps in tackles to come away with the ball. Never shirks from a challenge and covers so much ground. Was really dissapointed to see Liam Kelly go as a few of you knew I rated him, but now I can excatly why Smith is like 10 x better.

Back in days of yore (yore wot ?) my favourite was and remains Gerry Gow.
So it comes as no surprise that my favourite player in possibly the best City team seen since those days is the player who plays Gow's old position - Korey Smith. He is the governor - runs the midfield from deep and is the principle shield for the defence and a springboard for the attack.
His tackle is tigerish and his skill level is wey wey beyond anything in Div 1. He will shine next season if he is fit

Korey Smith for me, with the two Lukes, Freeman & Ayling not far behind..Flinty has been our best player this season, so consistent...I asked him resently, Steve Cotterell has worked wonders for you since he came to the club, he is a super manager don't you think Aden, his answer was "HE'S ALRIGHT I SUPPOSE" !!!

'a parent secretly has a favourite child'
    Impossible.
    Well, it is for me.

'Waiting for Redprint to say Wagstaff'
Poor old useless Wagstaff has started 2 out of 42 league games and subbed both times.
    Cotterill needs a Pineapple.

Joe Bryan. Capable of going much further in football. Two footed, skillful, intelligent = A modern footballer. AND Local. The rest are largely here due to finance and Bristol City out pay many.

Which means the great team spirit that Cotterill has developed at Ashton Gate this season, and most of the positivity generated among players and staff has all but been swallowed up in your fog of cynicism and regional 'pure blood' fixation :)

If you are bored enough check my post history I have stated season long City will win the league based on A/Mr Lansdowns wealth B/ Mr Cotterills shrewd abilty to spend it. There is a synergy between Mr Lansown moving around twenty million pounds of debt away from Bristol City ltd into another company and Mr Cotterills ability to enter into the transfer market.

Getting numerous Joes into a competitive first team will be surely better, and maybe something to be proud of v Steve Lansdown dealing with astronomical debt. Thinking that players called Atyeo, Bryan, Newman etc playing in a regional Bristol City first team makes sense, yes very guilty.

Joe Bryan actually can really play and as the song goes one of our own!

    Bloody mudbloods everywhere <laugh>

Where is it his wealth he's spent this season? 2.2 million for Baldock 700 grand on Agard. Smith was a swap with Kelly, Ayling part of a swap with Moloney so say half a million to make up. That leaves a million spent on Freeman just to break even. So Lansdown's money probably didn't play a part in it this season.

As much as we would all enjoy a team full of Joe Bryans playing for Bristol City it may be there aren't a team full available at the moment locally.

Ayling, Flint, Korey Smith and Bryan - not necessarily in that order.
Special mentions for Wilbs and Fielding - although I doubt either will feature much next season.
Wonder if we will go in for Matt Smith again in the summer? Although I guess his price will have gone up - I see he scored again at the weekend :(
