A fair question, why do we as Bristol City fans always have to demonise somebody, we are never happy unless we are attacking and cursing someone. I've had my own demons, so I'm as bad as anyone, I'm a typical City fan, anyway here's mine, the worst being Millen the Muppet, closely followed by Sextone, SOD, Kilkenny, Hunt and the **** of all time Pulis, others hated Fontaine, Delboy, Junior and now EL-Abd, some even list Steve Lansdown. Cotts is off of the hook for a while, who will be the next one to fall fowl, there is bound to be one.?
Fielding had been on that list this season, but has shown great character and commitment rewarded with some good recent performances-Hope he keeps his place in the side now-Must admit, El Abd has been a big disappointment.
I saw Fielding in pre season and was impressed, one save against Rangers was fantastic. So I never really had it in for him. I didn't like Killkenny and SoD (Never wanted him) but I generally don't dislike many, just wish they will overcome the bad run etc.
Fielding made a schoolboy error (or two) in the opening game against Bradford, which was a game that we should have won, and I think people were therefore very disappointed in him straight away. Didn't like Millen as I think he was too friendly with some of the players and was also rubbish in front of the camera. After a 5-0 thrashing at Blackpool he and the players were seen by City fans having a laugh and drinking beer on the team coach home. Hardly the way you would want them to react. Sexstone was an accident waiting to happen in the media spotlight and was full of hot air. I've never liked Lansdown or the way he has frittered money on the club whilst taking us ever backwards over recent seasons. His puppet son is no better. Then there was SOD who I probably disliked more than any other manager come the end I like SC. He wouldn't have been my choice but compared to the previous incumbent he's done us proud. If we can beat Swindon on Saturday, and there's no reason to think we won't, then we'll be almost home and dry. There will however be a large weight of expectation on him to make us very competitive in this division from the very start of next season.
Yep, and expectation will be even higher should we finish this season strongly... To be honest though, we will be loosing Wolves, Brentford and Possible Peterborough, and gaining, Yeovil, Barnsley and Millwall/Doncaster/Charlton so next season this will be a easier division and we should really be looking at getting promoted... as for the next demon, it's pretty obvious who it is, EL-ABD. What a flop, was really excited when he signed as I thought it was the hard horrible bastard we needed, whilst he is those things, he's not a clever one. He gets caught all the time, gives away dangerous free kicks, gets beat to often and is no better than what we have, which before his arrival were looking solid! I hope like Fielding he comes back stronger/wiser because confidence isn't a issue with him. If he can get his act together and become reliable we'll have a hell of a good defence next year. Williams will be more experienced and is already a very good defender, Flint is improving and Osborne is probably our best. Cunningham and Moloney were very good Tuesday night and im hoping Cotts sticks with them rather than chopping and changing! so im hoping there isn't a scapegoat for the rest of the season. We can't afford one!
Interesting that you mention Kilkenny. I was talking to a good friend of mine earlier this week who's a PNE fan. He lives in Bristol but gets home whenever he can to watch PNE. Apparently Kilkenny is a key member of their successful side.............just saying.
Don't think it was footballing ability if no other player was around him, then he was a chicken. It was his constant moaning on the pitch and pointing like he was trying to deflect the blame. Some of his passes was sublime. To me I just didn't like him, and thought he was a whinging annoying Aussie
Doesn't Gillitt already occupy the current 'hated' chair? Or did his goal last week get him a reprieve?
Make it two, I have never rated him (still don't) but I didn't voice it as much as the other poster!!!
'I didn't voice it as much as the other poster!!!' What ? Me a big mouth ? Pleased that Gillett did well and a great goal. Not that many on here will understand (here I go again) but the 'dry ball' has helped his performance.
Good point RP - some players do play better when the pitches are not so heavy. I also think that Gillett was not match fit when he first arrived
