Who is going to replace Alex in the squad?

And in the first team, if say Luis is suspended (which could be a lot) and Ivo too (which could be a lot too, with our 'high line' and lots of cards)?

Should AVB back down and keep him?

There must be some unrest going on to t-list the As in November and strip them of first-team priviledges..

    What's going on?

My bets on Cahill. We need two CB's in my opinion, I think the rest of our team is fine with maybe looking at the CM issue in the summer again unless someone who isn't cup tied is found (if we qualify for the next stages)

One guy I've always been fond of is Jagielka, think the guy is immense.

Agree. Cahill would be great; but what about up til Jan.

Surely we should keep Alex in squad?

Cahill will 100% come to us in January if he wants too, Bolton will sell to us first priority it's just up to cahill and with JT captain of england Cahill should want to play with him at chelsea and continue a partnership which will likely be used reguarly for england

Definitely, same with Anelka. I want to get as much money as possible for them both.

Oh and I forgot to add, we should be replacing Nico aswell really. Adam Johnson or Hulk <cool>

Lukaku is going no where as he can't play for three clubs in one season<ok>

Get rid of him?!?! He's 18 years old and played about 3 games, give the lad a chance to settle. PL is a massive jump from that ****stop he was in last season.

    The kid's 18 years old for @#$%sts sake !!!!

Just a tad early to be comparing him with Heskey !!!
Weren't you one of those screaming for the kids to be given a chance just a week or so back ????
Get a grip Lcooper, this youngster may well be a great player. If so , no thanks to you " hang 'em high " fans. It is extremely rare that a young player comes to the PL and succeeds immediately. Remember Thierry Henry at Arsenal ?? First season they wanted to trash him. Remember Lampard from West Ham?? Hopeless for first season. Zola, ditto. Poyet ?? ditto. and on it goes.
So please, give the kid a break, unless you have some god given power to know who is and is not going to succeed.
Take a pill, chill out , and write only about which you are certain. Or by all means, give us your opinion, but please don't write off kids so easily. You may well end up looking pretty silly.

    Thumbs up to this.

Lukaku has looked well out of depth but he is so young, just had a massive step up in quality and is probably nervous as hell playing for his boyhood club...give the guy a chance FFS!!

As for Alex I think we'd recover as much as Cahill would cost us which would represent a brilliant bit of business. He's younger than Alex and probably better and being English is a bonus. Main worry is Spurs inevitably going for him as well cos he is going to be cheap.

Always gonna be some reaction to a new manager but its no secret that Alex has wanted away for about a year now but fair play to AVB, he has identified the problems and is putting in place a solution.

Yeah he was after a transfer to Juve as I recall last year??

Anyway neither are a great loss as long as they are replaced in some capacity. They are certainly not the future of the club. Anelka has never really taken well to that wide role and has fallen down the pecking order with the emergence/return of Sturridge who looks fantastic at the moment.

Alex has also looked average at times this year (soft pen against Liverpool, Long's goal against WBA and the Carling Cup sending off all spring to mind). Cahill would be ideal but not sure Anelka will be replaced until summer spending gets underway.

I agree with the others, he's supposed to be one for the future. I think a loan deal would do him wonders. What I've seen of him he get frustrated when he can't get by defenders, so some time in a team lower down the pecking order might do him some good.
