Who Is Best Saints Keeper You Have Seen Play?

It has to be someone you have seen in action, not DVD's !!!

I haven't been a Saint for long so I will kick off with Antti Niemi...

1st- Niemi : Best goalie in the Prem when he was with us , absolutely world class.

2nd - Richard Wright : Some phenomenal performances/saves when he was with us on loan and probably kept us up against Sheffield United making a blinder save from a 2 yard header of theirs to keep the score at 1-0 and also v West Brom , keeping out Kevin Phillips a couple of times live on SKY (never been so nervous in my life during that game).

Bert Reynolds.......... we put nine in against him then we bought him a couple of months later...<laugh> You think I am kidding but I'm not.........
To reality....... aunty Namey as my son used to say (Antti Niemi) Probably the best very closely followed by Peter Shilton.

Peter Shilton. On his day he was unbeatable. Very frustrating!

Ivan Katalinic deserves a mention but Shilton was one of the best the world has seen.

Niemi easily. I haven't seen many other good keepers apart from Richard Wright so there isn't much competition

Sadly, i am of a vintage that saw Gerry Gurr play for a short time back in the late 60's, and, at the time, everyone thought he was going to be the business. Otherwise Peter Shilton is probably the best I've seen down here, but an honourable mention should go to Tim Flowers.

We have had some good ones! Bob Charles must have been the biggest. But the best?
Antti Niemi just edges it for me over Shilts & Tim Flowers.

I was impressed with the way that Eric Martin dealt with thuggish Centre Forwards, those raised Knobbly Knees could do a lot of accidental damage!
