**DISCLAIMER** This thread is based purely on the implication that Norwich are very close to being an established Premiership Club in the next few seasons **DISCLAIMER** With the formalities of the disclaimer out of the way, allow me to explain this thread! As Norwich sat in League One, we clearly had the academy, facilities, board, and fanbase to become a Premiership team, all we needed was the right manager and right players. The same goes for Southampton, and to an extent Leeds (Their stuffy board is holding the club back). I acknowledge that most lower level clubs are unfortunate insofar as they don't have the attendances we did, however as this is largely due to the exceptional marketing during the 90's of "Kids for a Quid" and similar incentives which got the next generation of Norwich City fans hooked. Thank you very much Andrew Cullen! So who, out of the lower league clubs, could get the fanbase together, and already has (or could reasonably put in place) the facilities and board to achieve great things? Who is best placed to "Do A Norwich"? My suggestions would have to be: MKDons, Swindon, maybe Oxford, and AFC Wimbledon. Can I also just add, that from a personal perspective, King's Lynn have the attendances, facilities, and community roots to become a Football League Club in the next ten-twenty years.
not sure, even with the disclaimer, that we can suggest norwich are on the verge of becoming established! staying up yes, established no. we would still need to avoid the 2nd season syndrome before we can feel a bit more established!! anyway, the obvious team to me, and also the team (other than crawley) which i hate the most is of course franchise fc. if they ever get it together towards the top of the championship, and i don't think they are too far away from that, then they will all of a sudden have a fairly large fan base to tap in to. i hope it doesn't happen and i hope afc wimbledon over take them, but i really do believe mk dons are on the verge of becoming the next wigan. half empty stadium, finish 17th in the premier league every year. you heard it here first
Come on Supers, you read the disclaimer, don't drag the thread into a totally different debate. It seems impossible to have a debate based on the theoretical nowadays.
apologies CS - i just didn't feel your disclaimer was clear enough. you never know which binners are lurking on a thread...
Brighton threatened to be the team early on this season, with Poyet at the helm and their stunning new stadium. It seems to have petered out in recent weeks. Love to see it though, as I spent some time living their and love the place
I have it on very good authority that a syndicate of wealthy Chinese businessmen are in advanced talks with Cambridge Utd. They are prepared to invest significant funds to get them back into the league and will be targeting the Championship in four years. A very good mate of mine has been involved in securing their backing and the deal could be done within the next few months.
We're not talking John Beck here, are we Though, like Watford when they were in the ascendency, it must have been immensely enjoyable for the fans
Being at uni in Sheffield, I've seen a couple of their games, and I'd say they both deserve to go up based on how they are playing. The infrastructure is certainly there to support a premiership club, certainly a championship one.
