I suspect Arsenal are now favourites for Sahin, which for him would be strange, totally different player from Song, and wouldnt be as likely to start for Le Arse as he would for us, with the likes of Wilshire,Arteta and Cazorla all to compete against for probably 2 spots.Ive heard some Arsenal fans saying he would be good back up for Wilshire, Im sure hed be certain to sign for us if he thought he was gonna be 2nd string to a 20yo Who should we go for if we dont get Sahin, it may be diificult as we may have only enough cash for a loan Biglia,Capoue,M'Vila,Banega,Granero.I really think we should go all out for Sahin as Arsenal could probably afford to buy someone with the cash from RVP and Song, we may struggle. If we dont get him or another CM, I think we lack top quality in CM , but too many numbers with like of Spearo n Adam
Looks a great player, think he would of signed by now if he was going to join us. Still saying that not sure another CM is what we need.
Not sure: think this is that situation where we know as you say we have squad players but want to bring in quality. If he's not available better to stick with what we have rather than go quickly for a 2nd choice. Think long and hard about targeting him or player of equal quality at the next transfer opportunity. By all means if he has another option he thinks is as good and he can get quickly, great! Who out those you named would you go for and why?
Always thought we didnt need him, only reason to get him would be to get rid of Adam. Plus I've never really been impressed with him, dont think Real would be so keen to get rid if he was all that good. They fell into the same trap that may clubs do (us especially) and bought him on the back of one good season. CM is not the position I feel needs more players. Looking at Wingers would be a better option, also CB's might become a problem (maybe not this year).
IMO hes a really top player, and Real are only looking to loan not sell Dont see why Arsenal need him surely, they need an M'Vila type ie a destroyer not a passer if Song goes Really think we have to get him, as hes great value and quality if we dont get him,Id like to see Banega who we probably couldnt afford or Granero who Real probably wouldnt let go.The other guys Ive mentioned are more destroyers than passers.Perhaps if we get to the last 3/4 days of the window Kaka on a season loan may be an option, or maybe someone like Thiago Alcantara on loan.Or perhaps buy a Jordy Clasie or a Kevin Strootman I think we really need to push the boat out to get Sahin, as I think it will be very, very, very difficult to get someone else as cheap for as much value
It's up to the lad. Hopefully Ian Ayre has given him and his agent a deadline by which to make his mind up. Even then I'm not sure about taking him because he's either committed or not. We don't need him as much as he really needs the opportunity that we are offering.
I think we REALLY to do need him.Arsenal have Wilshire,Cazorla,Arteta,Diaby plus maybe a Biglia/M'Vila in midfield thats a LOT more ability than we have.Allen is work in progress , he isnt anything like as good as Sahin. When we go for these top players we have got to make that extra effort to get him, if thats means the likes of Stevie,Suarez,Brendan making personal calls to him as Wenger is rumoured to have dome then so be it Hoping he signs = not getting top 4 Ensuring he signs = More likely to get top 4 If you wanna win , you have to do EVERYTHING possible to get the best players you can.And hes the best player we have been linked with this summer without question
Wilshere is back in training next month and then after that he will probably need a few reserve games. He has been out for such a long time, we will probably not see at his best for the whole of this year. Sahin is needed to replace Song's creative output and then we need to get another DM to do the things Song was meant to do (breaking things up), but failed miserably to do so.
I agree with much of the above- good player- but just about the last position we need to focus on at the moment- even if we sell Adam. I'll be happy if we sign him- unconcerned if we don't. Don't think we need him though... especially not if on a loan... We're not over-flowing with natural left-backs at the moment. I'd like to see another natural left-back.
I can imagine the calls from Arsenal players... "yeah, join us then a bigger better club will come in and buy you"
Sorry but have to violently disagree with your conclusions on the following grounds: 1. If he was REALLY that good then he wouldn't be in his present predicament with his present club. 2. Particularly this season we do not need prima donnas who will attempt to pick and chose when (what games) they will put the effort in. 3. Is related to 2. If he wants to go to Arsenal then refuse our offer outright and take the chance that Arsenal actually do make an offer. WE ARE NOT HIS BACKSTOP. Finally NO we should not do EVERYTHING. The club is far far bigger than any one player and this kid is nowhere near being the player for whom we should break this principle.
Answer to question 1, he spent a large part of last season injured for what is probably the 2nd best club side in the world last season, after being voted the best most inflential player in the German League the season before ( in front of Schweinsteiger,Gotze,Muller,Ribery,Kagawa,Robben etc) 2. Where has he said that he will attempt to pick the games he wants to play, or have you just made that up....................... 3. How do you know he has refused our offer, i havnt read that anywhere, and even if I had it could be media rubbish, do you have Sahins phone number, looks like you have made that up too If you want to WIN, yes you should DO ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING AND MORE X 1000000, to make sure you do.Look at Dave Brailsford the cycling coach making small changes in every aspect of there sport, nutrition, clothing, technique, technology, training, and with small gains in each area that has led to massive success for the British Cycling team. Brailsfords philosophy can be used not only in Cycling, not only in Sport , but in Business and in every day life Liverpool far to often in the last 22 years have had the the attitude of we will try our best, but if we lose , ah well, better luck next time, thats the philosophy that got us our lowest points total in 50 yrs last season.Sahin is a very good player, we should make it impossible for him to turn us down, if we dont someone else will Kenny is writing in the mirror tomorrow saying if we get a little more luck we can get 4th last season.BOLLOC*S.Luck has f**k all to with it, you make your own luck.Luckily Rodgers seems to be more analytical and not leave things to chance, so hopefully I that will lead us to a far better League position this season But part of LFCs problem the last 22 years has been people within the club and the fans ( like yourself - you dont want to win enough, you are happy to accept 2nd best), who accept failure. Did the Redkanpp,McManaman,McAteer generation have the same ability as Neville,Butt,Scholes probably yes, did they have the same mental toughness will to win, definitely not.Im hoping Rodgers is more in the Mourinho/Brailsford mould someone who wont allow failure at any cost.Like Shanks said THE ONLY REASON LFC EXISTS IS TO WIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Real are looking to sell, Mourinho has already said that Sahin can leave. They want to get rid, they recently played him at LB in a friendly shows how highly they rate him. The loan option is from the interested clubs. As I understand it, both us and Arsenal would have the option to buy at the end of the loan. Still think he's overrated and people are only interested cause its Real who are selling.
The mentality that you are projecting is a complete recipe for disaster. if you truly understood the composition of the great Liverpool sides you would know that they were not composed of the greatest players in each individual position but of players who could combine their skills to create an outstanding team. You highlight Brailsford. Sure he has dedicated his attention 100% to an elite group. But where did they appear from? His focus has not been upon the development process and he has benefited from a golden era of cyclists that were none of his making. As for Brailsford's approach being a template for successful business that is absolute bollocks as it is far too concentrated to be successful in the long term - show me any organisation that has commercially successful over time with such a hot-house approach? If you truly believe that luck has nothing to do with any human endeavour then you are deluding yourself Back to Sahin. IF the player was that good then Barcelona would not even consider risking letting him out - let alone offering him a B shirt! Perhaps they know a little more about his character and attitude than you do - hence my point 2. (so I did not just make it up!). Every player, no matter how much potential, has to learn by making choices and live with the consequences of those choices. They may feel that the world revolves around them but they are merely pawns in a far bigger game.
I think some would say the fact, that you thought Sahin played for Barcelona, makes anything you say a lot less valid. As it appears you are making a judgement on a player ( Sahin ), when it appears you dont a clue who he is, never mind how good he is at football
D's: seriously do you think that LFC's 22 years of league drought is really down to fans not cutting muscleman poses in the mirror screaming 2ND IS FOR PUSSYS GRRRR! GRRRR! Simply demanding something doesn't make it happen. If it did every team in the world would have won the league. In fact I'll go as far as saying its because too many of our players people at the club etc thought we should simply win the league because we were LFC that we didn't. Determination turned into unproductive arrogance. It has happened to every empire since history began. Even that is simplistic because it doesn't take into account that other clubs might just might have the same hunger, desire, skill & determination that we have /had. Barcelona: last summer greatest team in the world, ever of all time (apparently). Have been consistently buying all the best players in the world, pay anything to get them, stockpile them......didn't win the league. United: Fergie; do you think there's ever been a day in his time that he woke up & said" mmmm I think I'll settle for 2nd this year" did that mean he won the league every year? I read KD's article. It comes across as: write as little as possible, as neutrally as possible so no accusations of bumming us up or tearing us Down could be made. Apparently he didn't succeed completely. Finally Sahin; you can't make a girl love you. Taking everything with a pinch of salt as ever IF he has made known that Arsenal is his first choice then we should make it his only choice. I might bend over & beg Messi to f*ck me but not the guy that warms his toilet seat. Opening his mouth will already have shown a lack of character. How hard is it to keep it shut while offers come in even if you have a favourite? The players we have signed so far seem to be calculated choices for the good of the entire team. It's all been calm & clinical despite BR talking too much ****e at times (it's a NI trait I'm afraid as you can see) I don't think Sahin is important enough to make a whore out of us. Or we wouldn't be talking loan.
