Just wondering since our promotion from league 1. Out of all the players to grace to grass of AG who has been the best player. A few names stick out, Basso, Caulker, Adomah, Maynard but who has been our best player in your opinion?

Although he left with a bad taste Maynard would be mine. Best striker since we have been promoted was a top goal scorer in a very hard league and scored some absolute beauties

Louis Carey. Plays to the best of his ability in any position, under any manager under any circumstances. Unlike Nicky Maynard he clearly gives a ****.

Carey by someway. Still capable now. Carey rarely has a poor game. Only an ageing body stops him now where even fractured skulls before didn't. Great off the pitch around fans puts himself around the community a bit. above all not a total twat like Micky maynard.

Warface Carey pre and post wheels falling off. A player we have watched go bald.

No contest. It has to be Nicky Maynard. He's played what will probably be his best ever football with us, and although he's burned his bridges with us by joining the Cardiff Dragons he'll be our only top goalscorer in a league for a while yet.

Maynard was really good for a season, Elliot for 2 seasons

Carey has been good for 8 season, but his influence has waned with his injuries.

My vote goes for Stead. He was excellent in his first, Player of the Year in his 2nd, and probably in his 3rd also.
He always gives 110%, and looks to me like what he is - a Premiership striker.

the question is .... Who has been our best player since we've been in the Championship?

Yes Marv was hot stuff for a couple of years, Albert is useful, Louis will always give 100% but the award for 'our best player' has to be Nicky Maynard, we may not be happy in the way he treated us after we nursed him back through injury and turning down our new contract... but he's the best we've had for many a year!

Amazing how much of an impact Caulker made, Only 18 years old when he joined. Only played 30 games, Yet us fans are still looking for city to replace him!! I don't know if he was just that good or we are now just that bad......... Oh wait yes I do its both!

I was always a big Basso fan, he is someone who sticks out for me. Shame he left under the circumstances he did, but I put that down to GJ... I think he got painted as the bad guy in the situation, when there was more to the situation than what GJ led on...

Its a hard choice as with the many management changes we also havent had that many players who are still at the club that were here at the start of the season.

Players like Carey and Skuse have both been consistant, havent worried about the glory and just got on with things.

Players like McIndoe and Noble were outstanding first season but were shown the door, Basso was class but again wanted to move on. As for Maynard he had 1 good season in 09/10 when he scored about a goal every other game but with injuries and being unsettled his form dropped.

So i dont think there is one player that stands out.

His first season wasn't to bad either. 13 goals and he rarely started. His price tag was a big element I feel in why he wasn't as good until the following season. Then when he came back from injury he managed to bang 6 goals in and last season he left in January and was still our top goal scorer. He was a very good player.

It has to be Maynard as without him you would already have been playing in L1.
