What Graham Speirs thinks. Bible bashing twat who is up his own arse. Everyone knows that bigotry is rife in parts of Scotland - instead of just reporting it (and appearing all high and mighty) why does he not do something constructive about it? ****in' arse.
He's a journalist so he does what he can, he writes. Others don't write about it so perhaps they should be more of a target for your ire?
I care. He hates Rangers fans and backs up his dislike in an eloquent and articulate manner whilst getting dogs abuse from the dinosaurs and the lackeys within his peer group, stand free young Graham.
They despise him because they think he's a traitor, they just don't get why a self confessed Rangers man would criticise his own club.
That's because there are more issues with Rangers, he is not tied down to a Scottish editor so he does not have to follow the pack and play it safe by blaming both fanbases as if the poison is a completely two way street. If you really think Spiers unfairly criticises Rangers fans why don't you have a read of some of these and tell us who has the bigger problem. http://www.not606.com/showthread.php/37919-Strathclyde-Police-officer-guilty-over-pro-IRA-chanting http://www.not606.com/showthread.php/38063-Is-Graham-Spiers-Right
If you really think Spiers unfairly criticises Rangers fans why don't you have a read of some of these and tell us who has the bigger problem. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Not what I said Dev. You're as bad as the fuds on 606 who proclaim "aye but they're worser than us so they are". Two wrongs don't make a right.
Another case of OTT show of police force Another Scottish club on Spanish soil, and another clobbering around the head from the Spanish police . . . has it now reached the stage where visiting supporters should replace their club’s colours with suits of armour when they follow their teams abroad? I am perfectly aware of the dangers of judging these issues from afar – I wasn’t in Madrid with Aberdeen on Thursday night so I cannot offer first-hand testimony. But there is a recurring scenario here that tells its own story: Scottish football fans with bloody head wounds after altercations with baton-wielding police. The old gag used to run that Rangers fans, perennially beaten up in Spain, could scarcely get two lines into one of their ecumenical Christian anthems before the police over there would start whacking them. This theme, though, has been no laughing matter for Rangers, and the Ibrox club are by no means alone in having supporters who get caught up in trouble abroad. I don’t think anyone can seriously argue that the Aberdeen fans the other night were entirely innocent. People reported seeing their supporters hurling bottles at their opposition ranks and indulging in other provocative antics. Yet it is the extreme police reactions to these episodes that causes them to flare wildly. The truth is, if a police force is as prone to aggression and violence as that of Spain, an invasion of Scottish football fans, with beer in their bellies, is a recipe for trouble. I’ve quoted Kenny Scott, the new Rangers head of security, on a number of occasions. Scott, who has some expertise in these matters, does not excuse Scottish loutishness abroad, but has repeatedly stated that a new culture of nonaggression by Spanish and Italian police will be required before scenes such as those in Madrid can be halted.
Celtic are bracing themselves for potential embarrassment at the hands of Uefa after European football’s governing body announced yesterday that it was looking into allegations of “sectarian or offensive chanting” by a section of the club’s support at the recent Champions League match in Barcelona. Footage has been presented to Uefa, alleging to show a number of Celtic supporters in the Catalan city indulging in offensive chanting, one of them being pro-IRA singing. Uefa confirmed yesterday that it was looking into the matter, and will decide next week if there is a case to be investigated further. The development brings back memories of what befell Rangers in an almost identical case two years ago. Uefa, having heard various allegations about a section of the Ibrox support over a number of years, decided to investigate and eventually prosecuted Rangers for bigoted chanting by fans. A fine of ã13,000 was imposed, as well as a number of humiliating measures, such as compulsory weekly announcements over the Ibrox loudspeakers asking supporters not to sing such songs. The Celtic case is similar, though some felt last night that it might prove even more complicated than the Rangers one. The Uefa disciplinary officers will have to wade their way through political and religious polemic in order to try to uncover whether “sectarian chanting” has occurred. As the Rangers case proved, it is a fraught task. A Uefa spokesman said: “We have seen footage showing Celtic supporters singing some alleged antiQueen and pro-IRA songs – sectarian songs. If the investigation is conclusive, then a disciplinary case will be opened. “We take [cognisance] of all manifestations of sectarian singing. The only condition is that it must be within the immediate surrounding areas of the stadium. There was alleged sectarian singing inside the stadium. It’ll depend on the ease of having these songs understood, plus other evidence.” Celtic appeared to be surprised by the news, and were quick to point out praise from the very same Uefa over the years, including a Fair Play award for the fans during the club’s run to the 2003 Uefa Cup final in Seville. “Celtic have not been informed by Uefa of any investigation. We would be surprised if any was to take place. The club condemns any minority that chooses to indulge in any negative or offensive behaviour,” a statement said. If the club are punished then, like Rangers, it won’t be the trifling fine, but the stigma of sectarianism, that will perturb them.
He highlights Rangers because their fans are worse, and by quite some distance. We are talking about Sectarian chanting here. I there any doubt that Rangers sing sectarian songs en masse and that Celtic don't?
I don’t think anyone can seriously argue that the Aberdeen fans the other night were entirely innocent. People reported seeing their supporters hurling bottles at their opposition ranks and indulging in other provocative antics. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Very selective Dev. I know some of our fans are by no means angels and have stated on numerous occasions. I know fans who were involved in that rouble and the problem started when a whole load of Madrid fans stormed a bar with Aberdeen fans and started throwing botlles at them. Quite what this has to do with bigotry is beyond me but you keep to your ridiculous inappropriate arguments if it makes you happy. You seriouly need to get that chip off your shoulder.
