.....we have no luck? Yet again a simply awful display from the defence but this was Charlie Lee's day. Hessenthaler we can all see how good these players are; please get a grip on the backline!!!
What do you suggest? He's changed personel. The last few games people have been giving plaudits to the defence. Please could you be a bit more constructive about what you'd like to see done with the defence.
i say stick with the current defence, they've played three games togeather before tonight, still learning and getting to know eachothers game...they will come good! even enjoyed seeing callum davies & darren hawkes on the bench, rather than richards & martin!!! what a game & result...keep it going gills...stick togeather and get us out of this league! UTG!!!
If Evans plays at right back I certainly wouldn't play a 4-3-3 system giving the young lad no cover. First goal he has tried to put the challenge in and got punished, second he's pulled out and also been punished. Even in a 4-4-2 playing Whelpdale and Evans is an accident waiting to happen. If the system was going to work today it wasn't going to be with that midfield. But if it's ok with you that we've shipped eight goals against Wimbledon and Hereford then so be it. Hessenthaler has has more than enough time to settle his defenders down and enforce them keeping shape. Hereford could have had ten tonight
No need to be so aggressive at me, Kentish man. I was just asking for a bit of in site into what you feel should be done, rather than just a rant. Just trying to get a bit more substance to the thread.
First home league game missed this season, just got home from work, not happy to find I missed a nine goal thriller! Happy to see we got the important three points, no matter how achieved and three points off the playoffs.
I don't recall anybody say with haven't had any luck... Young Evans had a bad game but considering it was only his forth competative start at league level you have to expect that he will make the odd mistake. He has been the pick of the back four since coming in and has established himself as the first choice RB until Fuller gets back from injury. The only change I would make is to the back four is Jackman, quality player but I suspect he is only playing at LB because he is the only player foolish enough to do so. I would bring Martin back in, we look a little lopsided going forward otherwise. Personally I would also try to rest the young 'uns for the odd game or two so they don't burn out.
Must be one of the best games I have seen at Priestfield, great come back (twice), Evans confidence was shot after conceding the penalty but he is young and we have all been saying give them a chance and I still feel we should stick with the back four. I would rather have Jackman (solid game again) in midfield though but we don't have many options for left back. Bringing Lee on was was a great decision by Hess, he made one and scored two! There were a few who walked out of the Rainham End at 4-2 boy was that a mistake. Gazza I also have to say should be our number 1, the lad is always so up for it, and his goal kicks stay on the pitch! great save but very lucky to be on the pitch to make it, A game I will remember for some time!! UTG!!
A great match, couldn't believe people were leaving, even at 4-2 you could see there were goals left in the game. Gazzaniga is far far far far superior to the error prone Flitney. The penalty wasn't his fault, once again defence opened up. Can only think the striker pushed it too far or wide to be considered a clear goal-scoring opportunity (couldn't see from the Rainham End), but WHAT A SAVE! Best keeper at Priestfield since Royce and as he's only 19, has the opportunity to be the best keeper since his current mentor. Also, their keeper was lucky not to be booked for dragging an injured player back on the pitch, very dangerous and ungentlemanly and that would have meant him being sent off to as he was already on a yellow.
evans was given a torrid time by the best player on the pitch (Barkhuizen) so as has been said once his head went down when he gave away the pen it was always gonna happen. at the end of the day its a team game and if your conceding goals then the strikers need to score more than the other team and this time we did!!! pressure can be handed both ways, if strikers arent scoring it adds pressure to the defence and if the defence are conceding it adds pressure to the strikers.
