    Newcastle still pursuing Modibo Maiga but sochaux insisting they won't sell.#nufc

    with only 9 days left sochaux could dig their heels in and get the wish, albeit with a very p*ssed off striker on their hands. if this starts dragging on too much then we'll need to act fast on alternatives.

    With Shane long getting off to a flyer it leaves a sour taste in the mouth and all other options are starting to look a little bit thin.

    who's the alternative should this fall by the way side?

    Watched them on ESPN last night. Sign both of them. Pieters gets up and down the wing all the time.Toivonen scores and holds the ball up well.

    although i think he might have just signed a new contract at west brom i think odemwingi (spelling) would be an ideal signing. someone with good movement around the box and a bit of guile that we seem to be lacking at present.

    Following the signing of Lukaku at Chelsea I would say they will be selling one of there 6 strikers now;

    So we either make an approach for Sturridge or I can see Anelka going to PSG and we could try again for Erdinc

    hadn't he not just come off the bench? and that was hardly a sitter, a first time volley which he at least managed to get on target. i admit he should have scored it but lets not make it sound like a shola-esque shank wide in front of a gaping open goal.

    I dont want him. Would take Sturridge on loan, save money til January or next season. I know we wont but Defoe is the only player in the Prem that we have a chance of getting that has any kind of centre forward qualities we need. Shame he isnt 3 years younger to fit into our 'transfer policy'
