Given that us and Burnley are pretty much gone, who do you want in 18th and why? I actually wish Leicester to do well and survive so good luck to them. Feel sorry for the Newcastle fans so hope they make it. That leaves Hull and Sunderland. I think Villa are safe. I'm quite happy to see either of them in 18th. Sunderland because they were dreadful when we played then and we did the double over them this season so how bad must they be?! Hull because of that gut wrenching dying minute defeat and one or two horrible fans taunting us. As it was personal, I'm opting for Hull!
Looks like it could be Newcastle with their run of poor form. They have one hope for points. They're playing us.
It would be weird if we played a hand in relegating them after they celebrated promotion at our place a few years back.
I don't wish relegation on anyone ( except Chelsea.) It's horrible for the poor fans and will ruin their summer. But three have to go and the three that do generally deserve it. Unfortunately it's us again on this occasion.
I don't have strong feelings on any of the other teams fighting relegation. I see there is only 2 points separating 5 teams with Sunderland and Hull both having a game in hand. Looks like it will go down to the wire. The only Manager I dislike is, Sherwood. Whoever the Third team is, they will deserve to go.
Very noble 9's. Unusually I have to disagree with you. I do wish relegation on Millwall over Chelsea and I got my wish! It is a very minor silver lining of the cloud of relegation that we don't have to play that lot next season.
I hope & think Leicester deserve to survive with the way they've battled otherwise not bothered about the rest I just know there's some really poor teams & we could have done so much better.
Oh yes of course and them. I didn't nominate a team out of respect to their fans. But out of courtesy to your thread I would've said Aston Villa over Hull, Leicester and Sunderland. Villa have been sleepwalking for the last few seasons and Sherwood is a ringer for the despicable Jeremy Kyle. Leicester have done everything that we wished our own team could do. They have shown great courage and determination when all looked lost and I like their 3-4-1-2 formation. I'm so fricking jealous that we didn't have the capacity to do it.
Newcastle all the way. think they are a big club with deluded fans. Hope it's not Villa......I like Villa. Hope to be seeing them a few times at VP next season.
Nothing against the teams although I am not fond of villa. Personally I can't bear Nigrl Pearson or Tim Sherwood but tbh I think the bottom three will be as it is now.
Another six points from Sunderland next season would be welcome. The team that will suffer the most would be Hull. They could well do a Wigan if they go down. The devil in me thinks it would be funny to see Newcastle go. The way they hounded out Pardew might well come back to bite them. Otherwise, Chelscum getting deducted 80 points for being vermin would be my choice.
Two points to consider as to why clubs are relegated must surely be .............. 1 - Team poorly managed by manager. 2 - Club poorly managed by owner. All jokes aside, we fit the bill for both entries. Harry was in truth, woeful and although TF actually does care about the club, team & fans, he made some shocking decisions and or, didn't make enough at the right time. To me, Newcastle deserve to be the 'other' team down. The club owner, unlike ours, seemly doesn't give a dam about the team, he's happy to be mid table and will spend as little as possible to achieve it.
Selfishly we should look to who the weakest other team is, in the hope that they will not be a threat next season. But, in all honesty, I don't expect us to be challenging to bounce back next year, too much radical surgery, reconstruction and financial uncertainty for that. I'd go for Villa because their fans are the most fickle.
Spot on Aussie. I think we had a great chance to establish ourselves as a PL team and Harry and TF by a combination of a petty personal game of oneupmanship and total failure of preparation in both the transfer market and preseason left us completely up sh*t creek. This was compounded by a fortunate run of home fixtures before Christmas that made us look far better than we really were, giving Harry a reprieve until he chose the worst possible moment to shaft us. On the subject of who should accompany us down Newcastle deserve it as their fans effectively hounded a decent manager in Pardew out of a job and their owner, in his arrogance thought they were safe and couldn't give a toss about it left a caretaker to carry the can. Just shows you should be careful what you wish for...
Cheers all. Good opinions. I think Stan's strategy is good. Hope for the team we can do best against so I guess that is Sunderland.
