We'll be away from home, so I'd like it to be someone who's in complete disarray, in all honesty. Not sure who fits into that bracket, now that Carver's gone. Anyone doing horribly will change their manager or squad substantially. Maybe Watford? New manager, not far to travel. Promoted teams are on a high, though.
Newcastle home for ease. Chelsea away to lay down a marker after we destroy them* *before conceded to their only shot at goal after their only successful pass during the game.
Someone like Man Utd, Arsenal or Chelsea at Vicarage Road will do for me. If we get a prospective relegation rival and lose then the pressure's on already. Playing one of the top 5 or 6 means there's no pressure but it will be a great atmosphere and a good way to mark our return to the Premier league.
Yeah we had Champions City (A) in our first year back, got an unlucky 3-2 defeat, we had a nightmare first 6 games that year though, think we set a record for most goals conceded in first 6 games of PL season.
You recovered well enough though! It's a weird feeling - part of me is looking forward to it and part of me is dreading it. On the plus side our owners are savvy enough to ensure that we won't risk going bust trying to stay up. Interesting times ahead I think...
The thing is that next season is not the year to be relegated, with the new tv deal coming in for 16/17 if you can stay up next year you've got a good chance of stabilising yourselves in the PL imo.
I swear that gets said every year. I agree though the Prem is increasingly becoming a closed shop. Really wouldn't surprise me if relegation places were reduced or the 18th team was included in the playoffs in some way.
The last deal started 13/14 and the new one starts 16/17 but is enhanced massively. It's getting a bit ridiculous really, it's not gonna be long until clubs like Us, Swansea etc. will be players 100k a week
Do we give them a one man head start this year? We even threw them a penalty, but they still couldn't beat us last season on the first day.
I don't see why not, SD. The Spanners usually represent an easy 6 points for us, each season. The only thing they have to watch out for is complacency. Oh, and they'll have to get used to the echo in the Spanners' new stadium, especially when they shout instructions to one another, as that could be very disorientating.
West Ham don't move into their new stadium till the 16/17 season and by then they will be in the Championship (the Fat Sam Curse) so are you saying that the Spuds to be relegated as well
No, that's what you appear to be saying, G4E! You're getting as bold as PISKIE with your predictions!
My predictions, as you know HIAG, have been pretty much spot on. I correctly predicted the top 6 in the right order the season before last and got the Top 4 spot on again this season. Now, as for your predictions. Arsenal to finish in 7th below the spuds wasn't it ?
