With the Transfer Window about to open, who would you like to see us sign if anyone? Or where do we need to strengthen?

I would like to see another striker and another CB at least. Obviously, we need to ship out one or two aswel. My two would be Odemwingie, I think he could become a top player, especially if he's surrounded by them at Spurs and it may cost a lot, but Jagielka. Surely his ambition cannot be realised at Everton.

Odemwingie's not a bad suggestion as back up to Ade though I do believe he was a little lucky to score the goals he did last season. Jagielka is a definite no for me, would cost a fortune and would probably still be 5th choice. We're in good shape for centre backs, the defence has done well so far so no need to meddle at extortionate prices.

if anyone Demba ba looks good as a back up for ade, even play along side him when we play 2 up,and gareth's not available

  4. True. Problem is, based on the 'Carrollian Index', Liverpool are poised to sign Ba for an estimated fee of £43.6million. Not sure we could compete with that...

It may not be either of these.
Harry has been quoted as saying he has told the chairman he wants a marquee signing- good they are, marquee I think not.
There is someone in the pipeline that he wants, but hasn't made public,or has he?
Who else would fit the bill and price/wage structure?

I'd take Olic from Bayern as a Pav replacement, personally.
I'm going to keep saying that til he moves to someone else, so get used to it!

Someone as cover for Ade, that's it for me. I can't give any names because I don't know who's available and would be happy to be cover player, but someone with the skill set/attributes of a Zamora/Taylor Fletcher/Long that type of player would do for me.

Olic is a good shout PNP. Getting old now but still has bundles of energy and desire.

We already have a strong squad, Adebayor is here for the season and depending on our final position signing him or replacing him will make more sense then. A Marquee signing is needed for several reasons. To announce to the world that Spurs mean business. To let the squad know why they need to stay at Spurs. To generate more world wide sales.

The famous signing of Ardilles & Villa made a huge impact at the time and heralded a successful period for Spurs. Marquee means just that, big, famous and fabulous. Great let's do it!

The other side of Harry is how he tells us how difficult it is to sign this type of player, we can't compete etc etc.

Which is it to be and who?

I don't think we need a centre back - What we've got is good enough for this season and I like Caulker too.

We might need a RB to cover for Walker - Corluka is a very different player and was appalling in the Europa league. But Naughton or Smith could easily be the right long-term solution there. The only position I'm worried about short-term is striker - but I sort of agree with Harry that signing someone who is actually better than Pav is a tall order. Leandro would still be a good signing. For a marquee player we could rescue Torres from his Chelsea nightmare or perhaps Drogba, or a cheeky bid for Robin van Persie? I think Berbatov would work OK too. I don't know enough about anyone in Germany, Spain, France or Italy

some good ideas here although i think the 'marquee' signing may well be a bluff for some back-up signings... i still don't think, with our wage structure, that we can attract a 'marquee' signing ubtil we are in the champs league.

I would like to see Amauri - can still do a job and under Harry could find his form again
Hoilett - as cover for Lennon, potentially could be the next great winger
Samba - getting on a bit but a natural beast of a defender and could knock Daws out of the team.
A naturally gifted central midfielder as back-up to Modders should he leave in the summer.

    COYS!!!

Heard that Drogba is going to China and Berbatov,I don't think so not now he won't want to back up again.

Not initially it didn't. Wasn't our 3rd game that 7-1 demolition at Anfield? Must admit the last goal by McDermott was pretty special. Ossie and Ricky must have thought wtf have I done <laugh>

Huntelaar is in a rich scoring run (15 so far) at the moment. Might be worth a look. Papiss Demba Cisse has scored 9 this season and looks good plus he would be a lot cheaper than Huntelaar. The big problem is the African Cup of Nations.

It's possible we are seeing the peak of the wages spiral. City are already finding out the difficulties of moving on surplus players because of their high wage contracts. Tevez, Adebayor Wayne whotsit! are all happy to sit and earn fortunes or go on loan at City's expense.

The state of the Western economy's will not necessarily improve long term and this will in the end have repercussions for football.
