Hello I have opened this thread to ask you who you believe you need to sign next season and if there is anyone who you believe you may need to get rid of as they are not up to the job for you in the Premiership, So please just make some suggestions below on who you could sign.
Again, I'm sure Lambert will choose carefully so as to not risk damaging the harmony and bond of players at the club. He also likes a particular style of player, one that works hard and is determined. To that end, any of the following would be good for me: Shane Long Danny Graham Jose Semedo Reo-Coker (maybe available on a free) Fabrice Muamba Karl Henry Steve Morison Mackail-Smith
I suggest 1 keeper A couple of strikers 2 quality midfielders Another couple who can play a bit wider Defence could be a problem, might need up to 4 more players there Apart from that I think you could keep the players you've got
Unlike QPR who are reportedly having a bit of a mass clear out in the summer, I dont think there will be many changes at Carrow Road to be honest, maybe a few fringe player to be released and a get in a few experienced players at PL level perhaps but whoever those players are will need to fit in with what Paul Lambert is looking for (as outlined above) For me I would either sell or loan Chris Martin. A decent player but has not recreated the form of last season in the higher level.
What's wrong with our back 4, very consistent players!? I don'texactly think the Q.P.R defence is any more (or less) talented than ours. We would certainly not have a clear out like you are suggesting, the players that we have got us here - we wouldn't replace the entire team. Heart and determination got us there and I think we will give them the opportunity to re-create that this coming season.
I didn't exactly 'bite', just merely stating fact. Lambert will keep our squad, as Thai pointed out, we will most likely let some fring players go or send them out on loan. I think we will keep hold of Chrissy Martin, as he is a capable backup - as good as Vokes was in my opinion. I think it could well be the end for Cody, perhaps we will sell him to Gillingham with the money we owe them for Jackson forming part of the fee. As I said in another thread, I think we will more look to strengthen the squad than replace what we have. If Reading don't go up, I'd love for us to move for Long. Another central defender is much needed as we only have 3. Would like to see Lansbury back again too.
Can not argue with either of those, especially Shane Long. Played in the PL with Reading and did a decent job too if I remember correctly
Definitely, although Everton are rumoured to be interested too. Just think back to the last time we were here when we should have moved for Ashton much earlier. Had we have done, I think we would have stayed in that league. I think someone like Long would be worth the money, reading prob want ã5m for him...? If not, Lita would be worth another punt imo. I personally feel this team, background staff, manager etc. are much better equipped than last time around....and I feel much more comfortable with Ward / Barnett / Whitbread than I ever would with Charlton / Shackell / Flemming etc. at the back! haha
Wouldn't touch Bothroyd with a 10ft barge pole. He's never played at PL level, so wouldn't be anything different to the squad we have and he's far too moody. Things weren't going right on Monday so he started throwing himself on the floor instead of pulling his socks up and putting in a decent shift. Also he's far to unloyal. Its no coincidence that he's waiting to see if Cardiff get promoted before he signs a new contract.
Yeah, But if he don't want to sign a new contract on a free don't you think he would be worth a punt.
Honestly, no. IMO he's the sort of player who would only come to Norwich because it would get him in the PL ala Helveg and Jonson. The type of player we could really do without this time round
Echo those sentiments, Bothroyd is very inconsistent. I wouldn't go as far to say I'd be distraught if he turned up, as if one could get him firing it would probably be Lambert. However, he doesn't really suit our mould and, as Dazz points out, he doesn't roll up his sleeves and get stuck in when things are going against you. Totally the opposite to our ethos. We are a hard working side that likes to play football, when the opportunity is there. As we showed against Pompey, we are equally adept at playing the longer ball when necessary and will play with our hearts on our sleeves. I don't expect many old Prem players to turn up either, Lambert doesn't want someone that is looking to just pick up their wages - he has made that perfectly clear. Expect well considered signings, players that are ready to put their bodies on the line for the cause and slot in well with the other players.
there is no way in the world PL would ever consider signing boothroyd. he is the total opposite of the lambert player and would be too disruptive to the squad.
Ruddy will be our first choice, no doubt about it. I think we will want another Goalkeeper though as I am not convinced, should Ruddy get injured, that Rudd or Steer would be ready for the PL.
