Thought that as I cannot remember who some of our players are, if they currently play for us or are out on loan I would compile a list. I think that there could be a difference between those who I would like to see in the team next season and those who want to be away. Although I only get a few chances to see the players I could compile a list of those I wanted to stay and those who should stay. Looking at the length of contracts and remembering that you need more than a couple of goalies for example it becomes slightly harder. See what you make of it.

Manuel Almunia Contract at WFC until end of this season.
Gabriele Angella Contract at WFC until June 2018
Essaid Belkalem On loan until end of this season, but option to make it perm.
Joel Ekstrand Contract at WFC until June 2016
Cristian Battochio Contract at WFC until June 2016
Alexander Merkel Loan until end of this season.
Troy Deeney Contract at WFC until June 2016
Lewis McGugan Contract at WFC until June 2016 with option for a further year.
Fernando Forestieri Contract at WFC until June 2018
Lloyd Doyley Contract at WFC until June 2015
Mathias Ranegie Contract at WFC until June 2017
Sean Murray Contract at WFC until June 2017
Fitz Hall Contract at WFC until end of this season.
Daniel Pudil Contract at WFC until June 2017
Davide Faraoni Contract at WFC until June 2018
Chu-Young Park Loan to end of this season.
Ikechi Anya Contract at WFC until June 2016
Almen Abdi Contract at WFC until June 2016
Samba Diakite Loan to end of this season.
Gary Woods Contract at WFC until end of this season.
Marco Cassetti Contract at WFC until end of this season.
Daniel Tozser Loan to end of this season.
Jonathan Bond Contract at WFC until June 2016
Tommie Hoban Contract at WFC until June 2017
Luke O'Nien Contract at WFC until end of this season. On loan to Wealdstone.
Ross Jenkins Contract at WFC until end of this season
Diego Fabbrini Contract at WFC until June 2017. On loan to Siena.
Iriney (Santos da Silva) Contract at WFC until June 2015
Uche Ikpeazu Contract at WFC until June 2016
Bernard Mensah Contract at WFC until June 2016
Reece Brown Contract at WFC until June 2015 On loan to Carlisle.
Lucas Neill Contract at WFC until end of this season. On loan to Doncaster.

Rumours - Deeney, Cassetti and Ekstrand maybe to go? So no idea there, a DECENT striker and SOLID defenders needed from the Pozzo network.

Hopefully Fabbrini, Iriney and Acuña get permanents away from the Vic. Far, far away. Good luck to them, any ideas of how long their loans are?

Riera and Tözsér would be very useful additions on permanent contracts. Maybe some of the youngsters can step up next season too.

Those are the ones I'd be inclined to keep if we could. As everyone knows, we desperately need a leader - wonder if Eustace would come back? - and another proven goal scorer.

I'd like to see Deeny stay but think he'll go. Can't see Almunia staying and there's every chance Anya could be sold i suppose. It wonlt be a dull summer in the transfer market that's for sure but i just hope we buy a leader like everyone else has said.

deeney will be gone, hopefully Almunia will stay. Diakite got treated appallingly by Watford fans and i can't imagine he'd ever want to play for us again. I've heard Angella may be off, Wouldn't mind Anya or Pudil going but if they stay it'd be good too, we need to keep some key players next season and not have another major change around. Can't see Iriney coming back which is a shame, and Acuna didn't get the chances he deserved so i doubt he'll be back. Can't see Nosworthy putting the shirt on again, and i can imagine we won't see much more of Doyley either. After Saturday's dreadful showing, i'd like to see McGugan elsewhere, and Bond should go out on loan. Still don't understand the point of Lucas Neill and though Fitz Hall is fab when he's fit, he's not fit very often! Why did we take Woods? Anyone know?

To cut it short, as long as we keep Almunia, Abdi (and pray he is fit!), Toszer, Batty, Forestieri, Renegie, Merkel (who apparently is going), Hoban, Ekstrand, Faraoni and Cassetti i'd be happy. Then we can top up!

Bloody heck H - if that lot isn't a major change around then what is?

Not sure that I agree with keeping Cassetti and Almunia - Faraoni maybe, but he needs to toughen up a bit, and isn't Merkel only here on loan anyway? No mention of Murray in there?

In reality, we have some good players but not enough grit/steel (dare I say it, Englishness) to get us into the top 6.

IF the Pozzos have learnt anything from their first two seasons in the Championship I expect to see it in a different approach to transfers over the summer.

This thread is depressing me. I can see another massive upheaval this summer when what we need is stability.

Well...assuming (as reported) we had to pay a large chunk of Diakite's wages to bring him in on loan and all the other salaries we will save by moving players on, maybe there is a small chance that we could sign Tozser, if we can AND we have a fully fit Abdi I think we can build a team around these key players. If we dont get Tozser, and dont forget this has to be something the player wants, then I am sure there are other targets lined up. It has been established that we need this type of player. I seriously doubt that we will look to sell players like Angella, because their value will be far higher if they have played in the premiership, than if they are bought from a mid table championship side. After all the Pozzo model is to sell at highest point and at this point a lot of our players are a couple of years (and a promotion) from realising their optimum market value.

I also don't think we need to be depressed or worried about a major upheaval, from what I see the Pozzos are pretty clued up, and don't tend to make the same mistake twice, so I think there will be more scrutiny this year over our player acquisitions whether they be permanent or loan. I fancy that there will be small changes, but we will be ultimately stronger. We may lose a talismanic striker, but we may get another player to replace them or somebody may step up to the mark (remember it took Sordell to be sold to give Deeney his break and allow him to establish himself as no.1 striker). Losing players isn't always a bad thing, because it can mean the team start to play differently and this could be to some other players strengths and therefore they suddenly push on.

My personal viewpoint is that we need to become more adaptable as a team and be able to transition ourselves on the pitch to suit the opposition in front of us, and how they are playing against our own tactics. Arguably we have been very one dimensional a lot of times both last and this season (the clamour for a plan B from supporters is evidence that I am not alone) and I believe this is down to the players in the squad. To be able to alter game plans and play different styles within a game effectively you need to have intelligent players on the pitch that are able to alter their game to suit what is required of them, you also need a captain that can call these changes and ensure players are doing their jobs or adapting to the change in plan. This cannot (and I speak as an ex keeper-captain) from the goalkeeper, and arguably you need to have leaders in each part of the pitch. Fitz Hall, when he was fit, made us a lot stronger defensively not because he was an outstanding defender, he was good but not amazing IMHO, but because he organised the defence so well and he got the other defenders to do their job and when necessary got them to do something slightly different to adapt when the opposition changed tactics. Dont forget that he was probably the closest player to our captain in terms of position on the pitch yet he did a far better job than MA in organising the defence and making sure they knew what was expected of them in a given situation. The current squad I feel are some way off being adaptable and able to execute a change in their game plan, and we have a number of players that only know how to play one way, we need them, or a replacement, to be able to be more adaptable, this could/should be coached, or you get a better player that can do it.

In summary, sometimes a change happens that leaves you aghast, but it could be a catalyst for an improvement. I doubt(and hope) that there will be massive upheaval this close season. Next season everything that has been learnt over the past two years should come together and barring injury we should be improved next season and challenging.

Using OFHs list and turning it around I have this

    June 2018
Gabriele Angella, Davide Faraoni, Fernando Forestieri,

    June 2017
Diego Fabbrini, Tommie Hoban, Sean Murray, Daniel Pudil, Mathias Ranegie

    June 2016
Almen Abdi, Xavier Acuña, Ikechi Anya, Jonathan Bond, Cristian Battochio, Troy Deeney, Joel Ekstrand, Uche Ikpeazu, Lewis McGugan, Bernard Mensah, Connor Smith

    June 2015
Reece Brown, Lloyd Doyley, Iriney Santos da Silva

    June 2014
Manuel Almunia, Marco Cassetti, Fitz Hall, Ross Jenkins, Lucas Neill, Nyron Nosworthy, Luke O'Nien, Albert Riera, Gary Woods

    Loans
Essaid Belkalem, Samba Diakite, Alexander Merkel, Chu-Young Park, Daniel Tözsér

I have made red and bold the names of the players I think certainly will go
Red the names of the players who could go
And green the players we could lose because they are sold because we are offered a good deal for them

To me we need a new goalkeeper, some 100 minute defenders, two strikers and someone like John Eustace who can be a strong captain.

Yes - which is why I don't think getting rid of Sannino would be a good idea.

Really would be a blow to lose Tozser, Deeney and Angella though.

I just hope unlike last summer we have replacements lined up who are going to be suited to the league.

See no point in having Fabbrini and Acuna back whilst Iriney will go.

Casseti and Alumina might retire so again need to be replaced.
