I am guessing that we will lose Ade and Benny and possibly Bassong. Big losses methinks.

Happy days indeed. A shame for Ade, Seb and Benny but excellent for us.

We've got 5 African players on our books.
Adebayor, Assou-Ekotto, Bassong, Pienaar and Khumalo, who's out on loan at Reading.
They play for three nations, who are Togo, Cameroon and South Africa.
None of them qualified for the ACN.

I don't think anyone was concerned if Pienaar goes or not <ok>

    I was!
I want to see him given a chance, at least.
Don't be surprised to see him start the FA Cup game.
I can see a number of our absentees getting picked for that.

Cudicini; Corluka, Dawson, Bassong, Rose; Pienaar, Livermore, Huddlestone, Kranjcar; Defoe, Pavlyuchenko, perhaps?
I'd suggest a couple of new faces, but we all know that the Spurs Transfer Window lasts roughly 24 hours at the end of the normal one, for some reason.

Does that mean Messi, Alves and Villa wont be available until February?

    Crap manager, Lidls.
Javier Clemente actually left Assou-Ekotto out of one of their last qualifying squads.
Do Cameroon have two better left-backs than him?
    Doubtful.

South Africa were eliminated because they thought that the qualification was done in a different way to how it's actually done.
They played for a result that knocked them out, rather stupidly.

A hell of a lot of Pienaar bashing goes on on this board. It's a bit hard on a player who has not even had the chance to bed into the side and has actually done very little wrong on the few occasions he has played.

It's unlikely that unless we have injuries that he will get much game time, but you never know, things happen and we may just need him.

Give him a chance at least!

I wasn't really bashing, just trying to cover up the fact that I'd forgotten he played for S Africa!

Anyone know why the ACN is every two years? Doesn't really work does it with the world cup every four as well.

They've realised that Vimhawk and it's moving to every odd numbered year instead, starting with next season's tournament in South Africa.
Now if they could just move it to the summer break...
(That should upset at least one person... <whistle> )
