It is obvious to most of us that, unless Dani Osvaldo has a lobotomy and has some kind of personality transplant, that he ain't gonna be playing for us next season. So, I'm interested to find out who is likely to be taking his place in the Saints squad, should we be looking at the top leagues in Europe or maybe a little closer to home, i.e. The Championship? I'll admit that my knowledge of european league football isn't great, so it would be great if you could throw a few names my way. Signing from a foreign league is always a bit of a gamble, unless it's Ronaldo or Messi!, look at Van Wolfswinkel, and surely the player that we sign must've scored at least 12 league goals this season. I'll start with one name (and that's all he is to me, a name!)...Josip Drmic from Nuremberg, he's scored 16 Bundesliga goals in a struggling team.
As a fringe player about to be included in a front line clear out at Chelsea, it has to be Ba for me. We'd be a frightening team with him in the line up.
Danny Ings. This would fit in with what Les Reed said at the Awards night about our signings being predominantly English.
I'm sure we'd be interested if he were available, but Burnley have just been promoted and won't want to sell him. If they go straight down again, we will perhaps pick him up, but I can't see us getting him this summer.
I dread to think. I'm not hugely confident about our fabled new striker, partly because I don't think we'll be able to get anyone that good, and partly because if they aren't the reincarnation of Thierry Henry a lot of fans will probably get pretty antsy.
I think Welbeck or Berahino would be good. Young, pacey and can play wide a bit like Rodriguez. Wages would be the issue but Welbeck is the ilk that we need - we could start by calling him No goal too.
Cheers Beefy..... I know it's only a youtube clip but he looks a bit of a player....2 footed, good first touch, tall, strong and speedy and clearly a very good finisher.
