Read our match report v wolves on each website, the bulk is very similar with subtle differences, and some sentences are word for word identical, including the descriptions of both our goals. As probably the 2 biggest news sources for English football I find this astonishing.

So which do you think copied the other? I'd put my money on bbc pinching it off sky, the beebs journalism always seems very lazy.

I thought the original source of most match reports was usually the Press Association?

No idea, always assumed each company just did their own, and think they have their own journos at games as its not uncommon the beeb and sky's match stats show vast differences. Obviously bbc have their own guys there doing commentaries, and sometimes sky with the tv reporters, but I don't think they share info.

I thought the Beeb reports are usually prepared by the Local Radio team - so they definitely had a man at the game last night - Burnsy.

I would imagine though, as someone has said, Sky have taken their report off the Press Association, and if Burnsy didn't have the time to file a report, he would have done the same. Hence the matching reports.

There was about four papers with matching reports on Newsnow last night.

It was strange last night I was following the game on the BBC website, and from time to time suddenly if I scrolled down the SSN page on the game came up. I arrowed back, and it went to the BBC site again. I wonder if there is some link up between them.

They just get their match reports from most non-premier league matches from the press association. Sky will have had most their reporters on the CL games last night which is higher priority. BBC must have used it too, some of the newspapers take them aswell like The Sun, etc.

Precisely as said above. PA produce most of the reports and they just haven't bothered to change them. You really think Sky and national Beeb would send a reporter to us on a Tuesday when CL is on?

Speaking of PA - how about Neil Williams for Swanny's job? Knows his football, talks a lot of sense, likeable character and I'd wager he'd give give up his PA gig for it.

Well bbc have reporters there in the commentary box and sky still have their tv reporters there regardless of the champions league or not, so yes I know both companies have reporters there. I find this incredibly lazy from two such big news corporations.

But you're talking about different reporters - broadcast and written word. It's like asking a plumber to fix your electrics.

But they're still there to take notes so a proper journo can make a decent write up. Anyway, there's nothing like getting someone else to do your work for you is there.

You are making the mistake of thinking that they care about the Championship , they don't

It's completely different. You're criticising something that has been the case for a good 15 years like its new.

Doesn't stop it being pure laziness. And in truth I've never noticed it before, very rarely do I ever bother reading match reports, specially from national media, if I wasn't at a game there's far more insight into a game posted on here. This time I just wanted to see how they described Simpsons goal, and much to my surprise, they had the same bloody report with a word or two tweaked here and there.

Bot Sky and BBC, plus numerous other broadcasters\media groups take the majority of their content from the PA wire. Along with BBCs live updates and Skys Score Centre. They are all populated by PA feeds.
