The implication has been made that better subs would have opened up their defence and nailed on a win (on this thread or another, i'm not sure and can't be asked to look for evidence).

The point is that yes you may be right HBA may well have done better. But on the other hand he may not and Vuckic might have been denied a stunning winner. Its a lottery.

Whilst i'd have done things differently I don't think his decisions were bad. I think alot of people are letting their frustration at our failure to win a game which we had done more than enough to win to make them look for blame where it is not deserved. Effectively choosing to concentrate on the perceived negatives of the substitutions rather than acknowledging the good starting line-up selection and the spot on tactics which led to us dominating most of the game.

I think our manager deserves fairer treatment from us considering how well he is doing.

Ive said on countless occasion Pards has done unbelievable well this season. But he has also made very strange subs all season long and will continue to do so.

This bit in bold together with other comments you have made lead me to the conclusion that you have favourite players who you will always argue should be brought on as subs if on the bench. If they then do the biz you will take credit for it and if they don't it is the managers fault for not giving them enough game time.

On the other hand should the manager put another player on and that player does well then he was lucky but was still at fault for not playing your favourite (who would have done even better). Of course if the sub doesn't change things for the better the manager is again a plank.

I predict with some confidence that you will only ever be happy in the event that your favourites score otherwise it will always be doom, gloom and criticism of the manager.

Well on that conclusion I can tell you you couldn't be more wrong if you tried. I don't have any favourite players. So that would blow your theory straight out the water.

    Keep trying.

Tbh they were ok today, except for Santon for Raylor.

Ameobi only lasted a couple of minutes in RW.

Anyone know why Santon went off ? Was it tactical or injury related. I sincerely hope it was the latter cos I don't think he really did that much wrong to be honest. He looks a much better player than Raylor, in all aspects.

I was baffled by Raylor for Santon.. all i could think is maybe the team are struggling to communicate with him atm

Maybe its because his left foot was shocking. But by that logic. Surely Jonas should be off also.

Here comes Ameobi......Oh, Shola. RW. Erm, what? Ha.

    I love Pards

I'm presuming Raylor for Santon was due to an injury until we know why Pardew made the sub. It didn't really need to be made. Bringing HBA and Shola on were the sensible changes and Ben Arfa did run at the opposition and certainly did make an impact. Perhaps going for the three points cost us the one. The back for seemed all over the place for the winner.

Raylor for Santon was definitely due to injury. (See BBC interview)

Pardew said Santon picked up a little injury.

Thanks for clearing that up. I never watch the MOTD highlights when we get beat. Did the officials get the offsides right?

Yeah, Best was about 2 yards offside for the first and Ba was a yard maybe 2 off for the second.
