We all support our respective clubs and the rivalry between Pompey and Saints is well known by all of us. Putting aside all the 'club ' issues, who actually has the best 'team' to challenge in the Championship next season if all goes well this season for both clubs? Pompey still have the remnants of a Premiership side with the likes of Lawrence, Kitson, Nugent, Moekenna and likewise Saints have up and coming possible future though unproven players at a higher level like Oxo cube,Lallana and the improving but some say ageing pie loving allegedly fatty Lambo! With prospective new Russian owners for Pompey will either we or Saints under their current ownership be able to return to the promised land next season, and will either or both clubs, subject to both clubs resources, try to buy their way back to the Premiership ? What are your thoughts ?
As it stands I would say things are pretty much even. If the Russians arrive and deliver what they are promising, things could get interesting as I'm sure that Saints owners will splash the cash if, or when, promotion comes. If both situations happen, next season will be a humdinger and we will have a lot of tippy taps to do.
As Meow has said before, Saints will always be the number 1 club in the South with Portsmouth fighting with Waterlooville for the honours of 6th best team.
I did, it's true, say once, that Southampton was a bigger club, but only because it's a bigger city! The Waterlooville bit is pure Channon though! Any ways they are defunct, or was that the punchline.
Southampton do have a Championship team this season and fully believe we will get to Championship and we will be fighting in Championship should we want to make ML / NC dream a relaity. Just depends who comes and goes... However, credit must also be given to Brighton this season. But do they have the ããã to sustain it in the championship...only time will tell. Good Thread Singing Blule 3
Could not resist the pie loving edit for Lambo, always usually gets a Saints response! I will try resisting posting pie eating contest links though! I still think we are the best team though!
Pure Channon? Are you disrespecting the house of Fodder? Are you calling me a goodly rotten apple? In any case, I think we have reached a tipping point, and Saints are on the up. Pompey are unlikely to get better from here, unless a rich in investor is drawn in by the excellent facilities and consistently strong support at Nottarf this season?
I agree I think it is a pretty close call at the moment....I wouldn't want to stake my life on the difference..........On form guys....I have to say it but it's Brighton ........ a close call for second place between Saints and Bournemouth poor old Pompey bringing up the rear...just based on form. If Saints or Bournemouth played Pompey tomorrow it would be a pretty close call but again Bournemouth and Saints I believe would prevail. It would be grand though if all of us were in the same championship league though wouldn't it.........
I doubt Pompey could get a point against H&W at the moment, things just aint working out at the moment.
I usually don't have the time as many on 606, so my responses are short and crisp as i quickly browse through this new site with ten minutes to spare. If Southampton were in the Championship this season, We would be pushing for a Play Off Place NOW. Where are Pompey ? So who has the best team, I believe is a easy one to answer. Delusion on a Russian owner with millions upon millions to spend is only in the thoughts of the foolish Pompey fans. I find it quite unbelievable after all they are STILL going through.
I'm a fan, I'm speculating on what may occur. I am offering no opinion, at the moment, on how I feel about events, over which I have no control. How does that make me foolish then?
"If Southampton were in the Championship this season, We would be pushing for a Play Off Place NOW." And you call us deluded? What a ............
