I think Fulham are bigger but more of their fans don't feel the need to tell everyone they are football fans. Whereas I can't seem to escape QPR people in London.
Right now I'd probably say they are equal. In terms of attendance you can't argue Fulham are the better supported but to be fair they in a very idealistic location and have had years of sustained PL football and are in a densely populated area so they have had time to build a solid fanbase When I started getting into football properly though QPR were much the bigger club. Had better players, played much better football and were about 2 or 3 divisions above Fulham. I do think though with the investment Fernandes is giving them and the profile he has QPR will eventually overtake Fulham. With all due respect I think Fulham are in a transitional period now, it's a great shame they never reached their true potential (which I believe was top 6), but for as long as they struggle on the road they will not progress quickly IMO
Same. I often find Football is the 2nd sport of many Fulham fans with cricket/Rugby being the 1st. I think their fanbase is slightly different to QPR's or Chelsea's
I think it is a tough one... I would say Fulham though not for much longer. I expect QPR to be staying around in the premiership with the investvent they are getting. Their fans are also mre passionate. Loftus Road can create a good atmosphere whilst Craven Cottage isn't anything to shout about (though I know they aer expanding). With QPR improving and our dislike for that club increasing slightly, would you consider it a big derby in say 10 years if they were still in the top flight?
To be fair Queens Park Queens are not up to Premier League football! Their ground capacity doesn't help for a start and historically their presence in the top division is usually "passing through". Fulham on the other hand have an attractive stadium and had some great players pass through their doors (Roy Bentley in particular)
Yeah, very middle class. On holiday in places like Australia/USA I've seen a fair few Fulham shirts tbf
No. With all due respect I don't think Fulham or QPR will ever become a big derby for us. Not in the same mould as Arsenal, Spurs or even West Ham anyway. Rivalries have history, tradition and more importantly reason. I remember when Fulham came up and Al Fayed said they would become the next Man Utd. At the time Sky also hyped up the games with them as some kind of big derby (a bit like what they are doing with QPR now) to get more viewers but can anyone honestly say 10 years on they view Fulham as rivals? I can't. Perhaps because I've always liked and respected Fulham as a club I don't think the dislike for QPR has increased I think it's all the tribal nonsense that has come with the Terry/Ferdinand saga
Don;t forget Fulham used to get big attendances post war, 30-40k sometimes, even up to the 60s when QPr were still in Div 3 and getting sub 10k crowds. QPR had very little history to speak of until the 70s and 80s
