Due to Bolton's set up, monday was the perfect opportunity for Whittingham to show he has not lost his ability to control midfield and make telling passes. He completely wasted the opportunity. Also we witnessed another stroll around the park from Gunnarrsson. Anyone recall in the 2nd half when a midfielder ran straight towards the par of them, waltzed past and left them both panting trying to catch him? Pathetic. Those 2 must be the weakest central midfield pairing in the whole Football League. There can be no excuse now for Slade not to drop both. Adeyami, Ralls and/or O'Keefe surely would be do better. ps. Whilst I am at it, I have not often seen such a dreadful display from a winger as from Noone. He had more possession than he normally gets and time after time he failed to deliver a telling final ball.
The whole setup is stagnant, and the three players you mention are stale playing within it. Individually all three would bring far more to another team's performance than they're doing at City. Whilst both are alarmingly slow, Whittingham has the skills and Gunnar has the grunt to do far better - but not together unless the system changes. Noone has proved in the past that he's got the trickery in his locker to unlock space and provide, but at the moment he's become a shadow of his former self under the influence of Slade and Young. Even after what appeared to be an early influence by Trollope, this side has lacked a radical shake up in methods and attitude. The players sent out there are just not performing with any confidence nor have any leadership on or off the pitch. The buck has got to stop with Slade for that. He is the guy charged with pulling it all together and has proved an abject failure. He can't see the need to instill some dynamics and pace through midfield - here I go again, Adeyemi please!! We can blame the players all day long because it's what we actually watch, but the real truth is the ineptitude on the pitch is born out of the lack of vision off it. Slade must go.
Ralls and Adeyemi in the middle of the park would create some energy. That would allow Whitts to amble about, or to allow Gunner to sit in front of the back four, but only if we play one up top.
Anyone know if Revell is likely to play for us again this season? Frustrating thing is our style of play didn't change when he went off. Actually, I don't think the style's changed at all.
Nathan does not agree with you though........... http://www.walesonline.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/russell-slade-needs-charge-cardiff-8986141 He must need his bonce examining as that is just barmy.
As I said after the Reading farce, Whitts can't hurt teams while he is playing just in front of or between the two centre backs.
