Goal poacher Jamie White believes it is only a matter of time before he opens his account for Bristol Rovers. White was reunited with manager Darrell Clarke during the summer after banging in 36 goals in 70 games over two seasons for Salisbury. The 24 year old Southampton academy graduate is yet to break his duck for Rovers after being restricted to only two starts as he continues his bid to reach peak fitness. He failed to score again when offered the rare opportunity of a start in the 2-1 victory over FC Halifax Town at the Memorial Stadium on Saturday, but weighed in with an assist by providing the cross for Adam Cunnington first-half opener. White said: "I'm not worried that I haven't scored yet. You tend to go on a little run when you are not thinking about it. If you let the fact you haven't scored play on your mind, it will play on your mind and you just end up putting too much pressure on yourself or trying too hard. When the goals come they will come. It is just a matter of time. I was just pleased to get a start on Saturday and was happy to make a contribution by helping out with an assist. I didn't get much of a sniff in front of goal myself, so setting someone else up is the next best thing. I love to score goals, but it is a team game at the end of the day." White is still working his way back to full match sharpness following a groin complaint that limited his number of appearances for Salisbury to 20 last season. White said: "I needed to be fitter. I wasn't at the level everyone else was when I came back for pre-season. I've been putting in a bit extra on the training ground and I'm feeling a lot sharper now. You just have to knuckle down and work hard. It's a long season and that gives you some time to make your mark and stake your claim." http://www.bristolpost.co.uk/goals-...vers-striker/story-22873988-detail/story.html
How did he pass his medical! He has been complaining of a groin issue which has meant his fitness is way behind others and its the same groin issue that only allowed him to play less than half a season last season. When will we learn!
Because DC knows him and knows what he can contribute when he is fit. Basically the situation will have to be managed like spurs did with King and his dodgy knee. Even if he gets half a season on the pitch the goals he can and most probably will score could make a big difference come the end of the season.
I really want the lad to do well but I haven't seen anything from him yet which is dissapointing because on paper he has all the right attributes to be a class above this league.
