Whilst outsiders for both, if you had the choice, which would you prefer us to win this year - Champions League or Premier League?

Whilst the prospect of ruining Liverpool's over 20 year wait for a league title has it's obvious draw, for me it's the Champions League. Winning it the last time was my greatest joy in football and it would be great if we could do it again with Jose, who came so close with us before. Dream scenario is beating Real in the final with a last minute Terry header!

I think if we win all 4 games we will be champions as there is surely a dropped game in there somewhere for City but we will have to win all 4 IMO. D'you think we can do it Drogs?

I'm not sure tbh mate. Luckily we have Sunderland/Norwich at home, can't see past a win against the pair of them. Winner of the Anfield game wins the league imo. Everton will take points off City.

It does bother me how poor we are against the lesser sides though.

Normally I would rather say Prem every time. But this season I'd say CL, because I am very confident that we'll win it next season if we sort our strikers out.

CL is a lottery. The best side does not always win it

it's funny how expectations change...my chelsea mates 10 yrs ago were dying to win the league as it had been 50 yrs since they'd last done it...now ... just a decade on 4 years with out it is considered far too long!
Ain't taking the piss ... would love to be in that position with spurs

That comes with having neither a top class striker or a midfielder who takes control of games. City and Liverpool have both with Aguero/Toure and Suarez/Gerrard dragging their team past smaller sides.

<laugh> I know, but for a club spending as much as we have on both transfers and wages, titles should be expected regularly. 5 years is a little while!

I think we start games too slowly. It's fine playing your way into the bigger tactical games but not so much against teams that are delighted to just take a point from us. If we got more early goals in these games they'd have to come out more and we'd probably win comfortably more often than not.

Hazard aside I think we lack a bit of creativity too. Willian and Oscar are fine players but need to be opening teams up more.

    Tough call
would probably go for PL this time as i couldnt bear the media frenzy if Liverpool win it
Nothing against Liverpool as a team but the media bias towards them is untrue

There certainly is a massive media love in for Liverpool at the moment. But trying to look at it objectively, they have gone from 7th last year to top of the league with little investment compared to most of the sides above them, and they've done it playing attractive (albeit defensively naive at times) football. Compare that to 'lottery winners' Chelsea and City, clearly people will favour them. Factor in the long wait for a title for them and Stevie Me and the stories write themselves.

Which will make it even sweeter if we ruin the party!!

However I'd take them winning the league and us the C.L right now!!

We'll use Salah and Schurrle's pace and directness more next season, and with a top striker and full season of Matic and his passing range, we'll score a lot more goals next season.

    90 goals and 90 points+ I hope!

No shame in losing to that type of opposition in Atleti or Bayern.

agree with most of you. League for me. Not so sure when it comes to pool or city.
More over we can put the marker down and say this is our title every year by winning this year.

This season would be crucial by dealing huge blow to City!!

Deffo PL for me, dont give a **** about the CL. We have won it once, so can say we have won that.
I put as much stock in the CL as I do the FA Cup to be honest. Now we have the CL monkey off our back, I want the PL, that's the bread and butter lads! Not UEFA's money spinning BS competition.

If UEFA really want my respect, they would do away with seeding, its completely bullshit and making group runners up always play a group winner, just greed!

More or less agree, although I do hold the CL in higher regard than you do <laugh>

    Mmm.....

No disrespect intended but recent FA cup finals have been contested of late by the likes of Southampton, Cardiff, relegated Portsmouth and Wigan (and Hull next month). The FA cup is nowhere near the tournament it was and is only marginally better than the Carling Cup these days. The C.L is THE club tournament in world football and to win it means beating some of the best teams in the world. Its a fantastic comp IMO despite some of the bullshit that goes with it. Seeding is nothing new and happens in most cup comps in some form or another to ensure some of the better teams make it to the later stages.

Winning it once was amazing and wont be toped but every subsequent win would move us into another elite group of teams as well.

Can you really top seeing the likes of Messi, Xavi and Del Piero under the lights at the Bridge on a Wednesday night??

If it was only 1, I'd say the league, because if we don't - Liverpool probably will.......and I don't want to see that.

Now, to ensure I am well and truly sitting on the fence, I would say CL for Jose @ Chelsea.

Finally, to completely hedge my bets, let's face it, either would be pretty nice!!

I think Champions League is the bigger more prestigious prize.
However winning the domestic league is perhaps more difficult and is a better representation of sustained skill over the season.

Certainly if you have won one recently but not the other- winning the one you haven't won recently would be more enjoyable. From a neutral perspective though- Champions League is the bigger prize of the two- even if it is slightly more a lottery to win than the league.

has to be the league, because if liverpool win, it will over shadow the world cup, let alone us winning the CL
