The fixtures are out on June 19th. Last season we had a terrible start in the sense that we played all the top sides...baptism of fire. Do we want a top side (remembering our success against them later in the season), a new side (hoping to catch them napping), or a middle side (to test how we are doing). I want a home match to open as I can go this year...fingers crossed.
The team "whish" I want is West Ham at home. I travel back from France on the 18th/19th of August and I would gladly miss watching that utter garbage served up by them again.
Being a coward I would like a new team at home on the first day...I fancy a strong start and some points on the board. I know that doesn't always work out, but I think we are new enough for the team not to be complacent.
I'd like Cardiff or Swansea away on a nice hot summers day ... try and go then Although have a feeling we'll be at home, so would like one of the newly promoted sides
City away. Worked for us last year. Come flying out of the blocks while they're still pulling themselves together with a new manager
I want an away fixture for the men and a home fixture for the ladies, as then I think then there's a high possibility of the ladies' opening home game being played at Fratton Park. Maybe Exeter or Torquay away for the men, it could make a nice weekend in early August maybe, football on the Saturday, beach on the Sunday!
When you say "it worked for us last year"... what exactly worked? We lost. 1-0, 3-2, 10-0, doesn't matter. We lost. Not sure how anything really worked out in that game apart from some praise on MOTD.
Swansea (and Gower) I can undersand. Why anyone would want to go to Cardiff on a "hot summer's day" is beyond me!
Any home game, apart from United or Chelsea. I'll fancy us against any of the other 18, but I think Moyes and Mourinho will get off to good starts.
I'd like to avoid the newly promoted teams (certainly away) - they'll all be looking to make an early mark, much as we tried to do last season, so let someone else deal with that. Other than that, any home game would be alright.
Spurs at home, Saints to win 2-1 (Lambert, Lallana, Bale). My life in North London will be considerably enhanced by the early establishment of bragging rights. I would say Arsenal, but I have a feeling they will take a lot of stopping next season.
Stoke at home for me, they have made a huge cock up replacing Pulis with Hughes IMO and they are my tip to struggle next season. Although Pulis' team wasn't pretty to watch, he knew how to get results, Hughes I just don't rate at all. I would predict a comfortable win for us by 2 or 3 goals.
Newcastle at home. Give Pardew a hammering and off to a confident start, with our new pacy centre-back getting a sweet headed goal.
I have a soft spot for Cardiff, having family living there ... there is some nice places there on a nice hot day
Agreed. I would take any of the teams with new managers or big player turnovers. Bar arsenal as they Will bring in some serious firepower. Would like a home game but not west ham or west brom.
