The one that rolls over and gets bossed in midfield and capitulates, or the one that means business and gains control of the game?

I watched lowly Mansfield give scum Suarez and co a real go and once again it was confirmed what the key ingredient is if you want to win games;-
    - passion
    - commitment
    - pride

I'm expecting a performance out there today after the debacle on Tuesday. I'm expecting our players to play for the shirt. I'm expecting each player to try. I'm expecting them all to earn their substantial wages. It's not to much to ask, in fact anything else would be a disgrace considering we play in front of 40,000 home fans and take hordes of passionate, noisy fans to each away game no matter where we play.

We have every right to expect all of this at Wigan today, so put it simply, I want to see us want to win!

    Sunderland

Sunderland are on the longest current run of games (33) of any team in the Premier League without winning a penalty.

The Black Cats have recovered just one point from losing positions in the Premier League this season, fewer than any other team.

Six of Sunderland's 24 league goals have been scored from corners this season, the highest proportion in the Premier League.

The problem is we lack consistency and have done for 40 years. Just when you think we have turned a corner, we always have the capacity to disappoint with great ease.

A point today isn't a bad effort but we have the players to both win or lose just as easily.

We need Martin to improve our team and squad to a point where a far better consistent approach is expected than the scatter gun one we have suffered with all our lives.

Look at Everton. Week in week out they perform km a level. Yes of course they still lose games but they always turn up and always give a level of performance that means they are in the games they play.

That's where we need to be.

It's the defence thats really worrying me at the moment Cest, alarm bells started ringing after that shambles on Tuesday night, and with the news that Mangane isn't fully fit, along with Wes, Cuellar and O'Shea (just returning), I'm worried. Bramble tends to have a stinker against his former clubs as well. Bardsley still not fit and Rose returning from injury.

Certainly we could do with maybe 1 or 2 new faces in defense, as we have some regular injuries to defenders.

Will Brown ever come back? Bardsley looks like he's some way off form and I'm very concerned that Rose may be out for a few weeks.

Without JOS we are all over the place. He is our stand out defender for me this season and crucial to our overall play. Along with Fletcher, he is my pick for player of the season so far.

Bramble and Killgalon need to play with a calming experienced leader like JOS to be effective.

That said, we still have and excellent defensive record this season and maybe its our perception rather than reality?

Well chance Louis Laing at the back. ffs its only Wigan. No disrespect but its not a top 4 team. Give somebody a chance. If we get beat its bad, if we win its good but at least we are giving our players experience

More than happy with this, if we don't play the lads what is the point of having an Academy?

Definitely against the Mags, but he was absolutely imperious against Wigan in the reverse fixture at the SOL.
