Its inevitable that Rooney is leaving us, and i wonder, which forward should we go for, there's not enough goalscorers nowadays, i would've said Soldado but he's gone to Tottenham, i don't who the manager will sign when the england international leaves us.
No one at this rate considering we cannot get a CM right now and we've needed one for years! Also after Wayne, Utd have 6 forwards in the first squad. Not all top class but while I agree Utd would possibly need a new striker to challenge RVP and Hernandez, Moyes may be told you've got enough go strengthen elsewhere.
1. We don't need another striker, and the only one we could potentially sign that would be worth it would be Lewandowski. The money needs to be spent on the midfield. 2. I still think Rooney will be here come September, it won't actually matter who we should replace him with, but he'll still be here.
That's the problem Matth, all the strikers who we would wish for who could fill the void if required have either signed for other clubs i.e Falcao and Cavani or like Lewandowski are remaining at their current clubs for this season at least. If Rooney leaves and Moyes plans either this window or next to replace him (if permitted), you can bet your bottom dollar the player will not be an internationally known name commanding a huge fee. Not how Utd work.
I think Fellaini would be a great buy for you. Slot in well beside Carrick and can play further forward if need be to grab a goal.
Surprised we haven't even made an offer tbh. I wonder if Moyes doesn't think Fellaini is good enough of something.
Gives us something we have lacked in CM for years. Starting to wonder despite my earlier optimism that we may not be signing anyone for this position....again!!! Strange if that is true considering that at Everton he highly rated the lad.
Wonder if he's trying to get the Fabregas deal all tied up first. Fabregas' move now seems to depend on the player, and whether he thinks he will get enough games at Barca. Buying a new CM whilst the deal is still ongoing is not the best way to convince him that he will be an automatic first choice at Utd. If Fellaini's buy out clause doesn't expire for a week or so, as is being reported, then there's no real rush there.
Personally at this stage I'd take a packet of Monster Munch + Mata. Mata and Rooney are roughly equal, performance and contribution wise, but Mata has much more professionalism and a vastly smaller ego.
True. Which imo means we shouldn't even consider selling Rooney to Chelsea, regardless of money, unless we get a better replacement in first. I'd sooner send him to Monaco or PSG for £20m than Chelsea for £40m.
