Personally i think with Zamora injured and playing poorly anyway, we need strong centre forward who can give us a threat in the air and hold up the ball better than cisse. If there were funds available id love to see us go for Gary Hooper, always rated him from the scunthorpe days and even when ive seen him for celtic even be it in the sweaty league.

If were looking for someone whos already in the prem and out of favour, then Kenwyne Jones might be a good shout for a loan deal, although i heard he can be a bit lazy? Who else is there in the mould that we need?

If we can afford to take a gamble and also using it as a bit of a contigency plan should the worst happen, then knicking Charlie Austin from the championship could pay off, i thinks its about 20 goals already so hed be brimming with confidence and want to work hard to prove he was worth the step up?

    Thoughts.....?

Id take Bent on loan but we need 2 strikers and 1 or 2 CBs.

Bent is to similar to cisse for me, be it probably a better finisher. Plus his attitude seems terrible if you speak to any Villa or Sunderland fans. I cant see this one happening anyway with the history between Bent and Redknapp who clearly never rated him. Could see Harry maybe taking a gamble with the loan signing of Keane though.

If we dont take the chances we have been getting,it could be as good as over before the Jan window even gets here. We cant last til jan with a misfiring, lone striker and a midfield that dont score!. If we dont start scoring/winning in the next 2 games, the damage might be done.

Peter Crouch for me. He's a bit of an R anyway - and whilst he's hardly the consummate nut job, his height advantage would be useful. Consistently good attitude and will always be a genuine tryer imo.

Who would want to join us?

Rock bottom of the league is not an attractive proposition for any decent striker.

I couldn't see any other decent Premier League striker leaving his current club for us so the illusive striker would have to come from abroad IMO.

Shall we sign back Helguson? Should have grabbed Jordan Rhodes or Charlie Austin who is banging them in for fun at Burnley.

I'd love to see Hooper in Hoops(blue n white) but who would trade playing in Europe for a relegation scrap?Hopefully DJ will be back in Jan + a loaner .

This is a difficult one. Needs to prob get 2 CBs and 2 forwards. Purchasing from abroad and loans may be our only option. All good points raised especially asking the valid question as to who would want to come to us. Really think Keane has to be looked at. Versatile and still has plenty to offer. He is what he is but his record is unquestionable and he would not cost a fortune. Dawson is on the come back trail and may no longer be available

My first choice forward would be Lacina Traore from Anzhi. We've been linked in the past, he could cause havoc in the prem.

Second choice is Vedad Ibisevic from Stuttgart. You'll struggle to find a more clinical finisher. Works really hard as well.

Vedad is fox in the box. In 12 games scored 7 and had 2 assists to his name but can't see Stuttgart selling him. Even if they do I think that he wouldn't be interested in relegation battle.

I would go Negredo or Llorente who is unsettled in Bilbao and only played 398 minutes this season. For me he's a better players than Negredo but if we don't climb the table it will be hard to sign good players

There might be a vacancy in the scouting set up under the new regime.

Good shout on Traore, hes 6ft 8" but more powerful than Crouch so would give us another option, isnt that the team Samba plays for? Maybe we could get a discount if we buy both of them. :D

I always liked Lewandovski (sp?) and a couple of years ago he was out of contract but now scoring a fair few in the bundesliga. Huntelaar (again SP?) is available for £6m so he would be a great buy even though hes 29yo.

Hands off the scout job, thats mine!

Know nothing about those 2 players and wont pretend too...

i do kno a couple over here that are scoring for fun....Emile Heskey And Del Pierro....

Seriously, crouch is totally rangers and went to Gunnersbury school. He'd be up for a fight, and maybe even have a go on the pitch..

still think we should have ago of Adel up front.....!!

gotta be bent, or defoe isnt it ?

Can't see any big names being a. available in Jan and b. wanting to join the relegation 'project'

Better to drop AJ / Zamora & Hogan from the 25 and bring back DJ Hulse plus a loanee and get shot of Bothroyd. And as good as Dyer can be, we need someone who can play every match not 1 in 4, so drop him and wheel Dawson in

My sources tell me a deal is on the cards for a certain Jermaine Defoe. Naturally he will sign on a Thrusday.

We have as much chance of signing Messi as Defoe, I can't see why he would want to leave Spurs for us TBH.

Difference re Defoe now and the past is he plays regurly under AVB, a definite no go imo.

Flyer, those two would be a dream come true if they signed. But can't in my wildest dreams believe they ever would, we have to qualify for the CL for that to happen. Maybe when they're in their thirtees then ;)

I tried to name a couple that are right up there in the difficult to attract department but still optainable.

Pirate, Llorente would be awesome! But for the same reason as Huntelaar and Lewandowski I'm afraid it would take CL to lure him.
