This is probably the first season following City that I'm really not bothered to lose any of the players. Safe to say we've had quite the rotation through the years nevertheless. These are the 20 last years (not all players, but most) Which squad have you enjoyed the most? Doesn't have to be the best one. It was enough of a hassle to get the last 20 years with images, but feel free to bring up older squads of course. Besides 07/08 + 08/09 I really enjoyed the squad around 14-15. The 14-15 squad was hardly the best one, but, but had some lovely characters and seemed to have some proper chemistry (Davies, Rosenior, Brady, McShane, mixed in with lads like Huddlestone, Livermore, Hernandez etc)
It's got to be the 00-01 for me, it's the first season the I trained with the first team and being a school age (school holidays) lad I was ****ting myself haha! I remember Theo turning up with goodinson in a golf GTi ( if I remember correctly ) filled with obviously friends from Jamaica who spent the whole morning sitting in the car park smoking and listening to music! Theo basically rang rings around everyone skill wise and at that point I'd never seen somebody make football look so easy!
2007-08 What a team that was. Barmby, Windass, Elliott, Garcia, Dawson, Delaney, Ashbee, Pedersen, Okocha, Folan and Walton. Brilliant.
-> This is probably the first season following City that I'm really not bothered to lose any of the players. I understand the intended sentiment, and basically agree, but I'd be 'bothered' to see us lose KLP and Batty. Other than that, I feel no affinity / connection (sorry, best words I can think of at the moment) to the rest of them; and it's been increasingly so for the past few seasons. Couple that with owners that you despise and it's not a good combination. At least Nige brought a glimmer of something as he exuded positivity, tried to bring people together and was clearly a good bloke. Now, nothing, other than a promising few lads, some like KLP who clearly care.
Not a full seasons squad, but the group that Marco Silva put together for 5 months was so so good to watch as well as having some absolute characters like Jak in the mix. Absurd strength in depth, a real miracle turnaround after the Phelan months, feel good factor was brilliant until that match at Palace.
Same for me, irrespective of our success that season just look at the depth of quality in the squad - and our one glorious season with Jay-Jay of course.
07-08, what a team and what a season. To think we could get a player like Jay-Jay in the second division as well, mental. As the saying goes, "so good they sent him off at Burnley"... or something like that.
2015-16. Seeing Clucas, Robertson, Odubajo and Maguire begin to come through, as well as Hernandez's best season and Dawson and Davies's experience. A really good team, probably should have won the league.
Gotta be 2007-08 for me too. We may have had squads with more talent and quality in depth, but that team gave me more excitement and enjoyment than any of them. I came over from Canada to watch the semi-final playoffs against Watford both home and away, invaded the field along with thousands of others after we clinched our place in the final, and then experienced the incredible moment at Wembley when Deanos amazing volley put us in the Prem for the first time in our then 104 year history. Unforgettable...and as clear in my mind today as when it happened 12 years ago. Thank you Phil Brown and the boys of 2008 !!
2007/8 & 2014/15 were probably my favourites, apart from Ben Arfa & Tom Innes. Having Shane Long & Jelevic as a strike partnership was brilliant, pity it was for such a short time.
